Some SOOC JPEG samples with my Sony A7C + 24/3.5 DG DN from today's extended lunch break walking around Ebisu and Hiroo (in Tokyo). I had the lens distortion and color fringing compensation set to auto and vignetting compensation off, as those are my usual settings. All shots were taken at f3.5 or f5.6 using the electronic/silent shutter. As for first impressions, I'm very pleased with the lens. Enjoyed close-focus shooting as well. Vignetting does feel quite strong especially wide open. The AF/MF focus switch is similar to 45/2.8 and not like 35/2 & 65/2, perhaps due to space constraints.
Not much to report. Only played with it at f2 and about 1m. This is likely close to its worst resolution zone, but nonetheless its very good. It’s also close enough you’d expect lovely bokeh, and indeed it delivers. But that’s not much info! Physically it’s a gorgeous optic.

Thanks. And it does look so sleek and refined. I am most curious about the AF and rendering at mid distance, transitions and corner bokeh. Any thoughts on that stuff?

I cancel the pre-order after get Panasonic 20-60 zoom. It is very small at 350g. I didnt shoot it much to draw any conclusion about bokeh though.
However, I seldom shoot WA this way so for now I pass this one. Once I used more 20-60, if I am not totally happy with it, I may pick 24 up once 2nd hand copy hit the market.
Finger crossed for 35 and 65. My SL2 need some AF prime

Very nice rendering, thanks for posting Juha.
The macro capability is also welcome. This lens could be the best complement to my 45/2.8C.
Perhaps this was Sigma's design intention: 24/45 or 35/65 depending on the shooters' taste and needs.
I don't know if it was Sigma's intention, but I think those pairs go together very nice. As I said above I would love to see a 90 f/2.8 added to the 24/45 pair; and a 135 f/2.8 I think would be a great addition to the 35/65 pair making two very nice trios.

I suppose the point about 35/65 and 24/45 pairs has occcured to Sigma engineers as well. We may hope that they have also thought about trios too. As you suggest, 90/2.8 and a 135/2.8 or even 135/3.5 for compactness would be great.
I may be strange, but even 24, 45, 65, and 105 macro seems interesting for a 4 lens set. Only 2 distinct filter sizes....with lots of flexibility. I realize the 105 macro would be a oddball in the set.

I actually would love to see a 90 f/2.8 in this series that would allow the really small and nice rendering (even if slow aperture) 24/45/90 trio.
That would be lovely. A nice small portrait prime with excellent rendering. Drool.
Let's put it this way: If they make a reasonably small & light 90/2.8, in the same series, with similar image characteristics to the 45 I already have... I'll get that and the 24 and most all my other lenses for FE (native or adapted) are in trouble. Co-drool.
