This Sigma could prevent me from getting the new 35/1.4 GM. Can't wait to try both.
Agreed. It has that potential for sure if they can figure a way to have it render like the 45 but have consistent accurate AF. The AF was what turned me off on the 45. Just have no patients for inconsistent AF in 2020. Sony would have to pull off some mind bending stuff to make a 1.4 small enough to be tempting over the Sigma.

If they designed the new lenses with the same level of SA under correction (my hope), AF-C (phase detect) may not be super accurate. Although not ideal, I'm getting very good accuracy with the 45/2.8C.

Had they updated it since it came out? I had it when it first came out and mine was to inconsistent so I returned it.

Sigma updated the firmware at the end of January but nothing official on AF improvement. I'm getting very good accuracy with the A7R IV but spherical aberration at close distance is not ideal for AF precision. I usually stop the lens down at MFD,

I never really like 24mm focal length but might get all three for my L mount camera. 35 is a must have. 65 will be a high performance lens for sure (given leaked size) as this (70-85) is one of easiest focal length to design right. I will cancel my Panasonic 85mm f1.8 preorder.

That's a great comparison! It's quite the lineup. The respective size of the 65/2 makes one wonder about the potential optical performance. Given the size it might hit close to the 85/1.4 I would think?
Oh man. As a huge fan of the 45/2.8 this is awesome news. I too would have l o v e d it if they released a 28/2 or 2.8 with similar characteristics to the 45, but... the overall feeling now is still pretty great. The arrival of the 45 was so unexpected and it turned out so well for me, and I was half expecting it to be a one-off.
I'd happily replace all my FE AF prime lenses if they did a 28-45-65-85-135. Boom, done. Keep the 21 and 40 Voigt manual ones for extra speed, portability, and just... build & feel. I might even give up my (adapted) Nikkor 58/1.4G for that. Plenty of character in those Sigmas.
But we have 21, 24/25, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 65, 75, 85, 90....
Granted at some of those FLs we only have one choice, like 55. But 28 is not a crazy FL. It’s like the Voldemort of focal lengths these days....

28mm lies half way between the very popular 24mm and 35mm. Perhaps we love the 28mm so much because we can't have it. I have a nice 28mm Nikon AIs, but seldom use it.

Hope these will focus better than the 45/2.8.
If they designed like the 45/2.8C with emphasis on rendering, it's unlikely that phase detect (AF-C) will be very precise at close distance. Spherical aberration does not allow for that especially in a fast short tele (65/2). Can't wait to see some sample images and the presentation on Dec 1st. Perhaps Sigma found a way to overcome this.
In my opinion, what makes the 45/2.8's rendering very special is the under corrected SA + low lateral and axial CA.
At infinity distance it's capable of very high resolution starting at f/4 on the A7R IV. It matches the 40/1.2 at center and wins towards the corners.

I just got my 13th (+ or -) RX1 because its rendering is just so good. It's a long shot, but given the 45's rendering, I'll hold out hope.
How is that possible? What happened to your other twelve RX1s?

Hopefully Sigma’s CEO, Yamaki, will say something about that in his presentation, though three lenses will give him a lot to talk about.
A 24/3.5 is also most unusual. Leica made a 24/4 for their M cameras. It could pair well with a 35/2.8 like the Sony ZA 35/2.8. Then there is the subject of a small telephoto lens...

It is a modern "Hollywood" to my eyes.
I hope Sigma keep the whole line the same look. In these days, I don't need any more super sharp lenses.
My quest for a fast and (relatively) light 35mm lens led me to trying out and falling in love with the CV 40. Now that there are potential 35mm solutions around the corner, I don't know what to do with my CV 40. Looks like it's gonna be a tough decision either way to skip the AF 35mm options, or sell the CV.
