In Japan 24/3.5 will start shipping from 1/22 so I guess it would start coming out in other markets from around the same time (at the earliest). I've got it pre-ordered (online) from Map Camera and should receive on release day.

Nope, I'm in the States. I have email alerts supposedly coming from B&H and Adorama when it's in stock, but nothing yet. You?
I have owned the Sony 55mm,and now the sigma 65mm and the Sigma is on the same level for quality, but better with less fringing issues. I also have had too many quality issues with the sony lenses so I am ditching them, my Sony 35mm f2.8 and 55mm have ended up decentred and I look after my gear. When my second sony 35mm needs replacing it will be with the Sigma.

I've canceled my pre-orders of the Sigma 35 and the Sigma 65.
I decided that my excellent Sony 55/1.8 obviated the need for the 65. No examples of the 65's output that I've seen are better than my 55/1.8 could produce, and the 55 is a significantly smaller and lighter than the Sigma.
It seems like the Sigma 35/2 isn't that different from the Sony 35/1.8. I love the 35mm FL, so I'll wait for what I'm sure will be the best of the three - the Sony 35 GM. My RX1RII and my Sony 35/2.8 ZA can hold the fort until then......Show more →

Map Camera has a new article on the 24/3.5 here:
That article clinches the deal for me. The photos cover all my use cases, and included examples of selective focus, wide-open closeup, stopped-down landscape, defocus transitions, linearity, high contrast, and CA torture tests like tree branches at frame edge. Even without pixel-scale crops, the 35C displayed more CA and defocus fringing than I could accept: the 24C looks pretty darn clean in comparison.

Sayonara, 35 GM.
I also thought they threw a lot at it ... and it didn't seem to falter. Seems like a very capable / balanced / versatile tool.
The more I see of the 24mm, the more it looks like a great option. Looking forward to it getting into the hands of some regular users to get more real world feedback.

How? I mean how does something like this happen? How long have you had those two lenses and why did you buy a second 35, if your first one got decentered due to low build quality?
Oh yeah, they had added that one day later and I had not seen it yet. Looking good here also
Looking forward to receiving mine (E-mount version for my A7C) on Friday before noon Japan time.
I'm strongly tempted to also get the L-mount version for my Sigma fp a couple of months later, once my lens budget has recovered from the most recent purchases...
just a side note/off topic : I am located in France and hadn't experienced any issue with lenstip (english language) site since the first mention of a site access issue on this forum. Not sure how other european countries could be impacted (maybe Lenstip does use different edge locations for European countries ?)...And i don't use any VPN software...
Anyway...

Is the shipping of the Sigma 35/2 and 65/2 delayed?
I am wondering this as well, and I suspect it is. I thought it was supposed to be in mid January, but my local camera store is telling me that they don’t know when it will come in now, even though couple weeks off they thought would be here right now.
It’s also still just a pre-order link at a lot of the major retailers with no hard day yet, not a great sign
I like Lenstip reviews and usually agree with his assessments. I don't doubt the numbers of his tests, but I do think he's got a soft spot for Sigma lenses, perhaps deservedly so as they've put out so many excellent optics of late. One issue from the review that might be easy to miss is the less than stellar AF performance, with unexplainable misses as the main culprit. He called it "good not splendid", which for me, if I didn't already own the FE 35/1.8 might be a deal-breaker. I use mine for family and environmental portraits, and the Sony never seems to miss. Does look like a great new option, though, and I'd gladly trade the FE button for an aperture ring.
My first 35mm f2.8 za decentered cause I dropped it once, which is fine. I replaced it as at the time there was no comparable quality compact 35mm. No finally with the Sigma there is something better than it and cheaper. My second 35mm seems to got a splash of ocean and started to have strange motor noises and issues focussing, although, now it has somehow fixed itself and it is working again fine for now. But with how easy it was for a splash to cause issues I do not have confidence in the Sony and it will be replaced with the sigma 35mm.
My 55mm f1.8 got decentred just from normal use and travel, possible a bumpy trike ride in Asia, but that doesn't give me confidence in the quality of these lenses generally and the lack of weather sealing. So it is good finally Sigma has brought these lenses to best the Sony versions and at slightly lower prices. From my tests the 65mm is better than the sony 55mm which was an impressive lens. I am very impressed with it for landscape and it is shaper edge to edge even at f2.
I know there has been the Tamron 35mm which can be good quality, but I have tested a few Tamron lenses and the quality control is terrible, they were all decentered so I will not bother with Tamron ever again.
I used to own all Sony lenses, but I am now transitioning to Sigma with all their new options this year, and with no quality control issues so far. The Sigma 100-400mm is also a great lens which is far better than the 70-200 f4 I replaced, and matches the sony 100-400 Gm in quality.
I received my Sigma 24/3.5 in E-mount this morning Official release date in Japan is today. Will share some samples later (hopefully today) as soon as I've had a chance to shoot with it outside. Now my I-series 4 set for E-mount is complete and I also have the 45/2.8 in L-mount for my Sigma fp (bought the camera as a lens kit originally).
I might add 24/3.5 and/or 35/2 to my L-mount set for the fp as well later on. 65/2 is also a very nice lens but I don't plan to add it to my L-mount set as I think it is more suitable to be used on cameras that support IBIS.
