Wanted to compare the RF 100-500 with the RF 800 so I'm currently renting the RF 800 that F11 in the Seattle area during these dark cloudy months are a challenge to say the least, but our Finney was willing to pose for me tonight handheld on the R5 ISO 2500 and 320 sec the AF is not bad but not as crisp as the 100-500 so far in my experience this is definitely a full sun piece of glass

Went to the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ to test the R5 and RF 50mm f/1.4 against my Leica SL2 with the 50mm APO Summicron-SL. When I looked at my images I was stunned to see that the R5/RF 50 1.2 had pretty much the same image quality as the APO Summicron-SL. There "may" be slightly more (almost imperceptible) micro contrast in the APO Summicron, but side by side it would be tough to discern which is which. In fact, the out of focus rendering of the RF 50 1.2 is noticeably smoother. I still have to test specular highlight rendering between the two, but so far I'm VERY happy with the results from the R5.

New Cat, great photo. Would you mind sharing the EXIF info? Also, was there any notable/heavy cropping; be it with the in-body 1.6x or PP. Thanks.

New cat, I was interested in knowing if it was cropped because in my one and only outing so far with my new R5, I was amazed at the detail retained even in 1.6x crop ratio and then digitally zoomed all the way in. Especially noticeable/impressive in this regard in your photo is the detail below the left wing. TC, max FL, wide open, ISO 1000. Sweet!

Just a little experiment,
It seems the R5 will focus @ f/22 at night, no problem.

The bridge into Apalachicola is a nice subject for B&W abstracts. These two shots were taken on two different days on the Apalachicola side. Both shot with the RF24-105mm f4, which has proven to be a versatile performer.
