Here are some shots I took yesterday of perched Pelicans In Port St. Joseph in Florida with the 600mm f4 mkII on a Wimberly gimbal head. I now need to concentrate my efforts on BIF and tracking with this great camera and lens combo. My first attempts at BIF were a bit frustrating since I'm lacking hands-on experience keeping the subject in the narrow field of view. I'll get better.
I haven't figured out the finer things regarding the focus on R5 yet for fast moving subjects yet, but I'm working on it. In the mean time I took out my R5 with the RF24-240 on it just to see how it would do. I had another copy I had to send back and this replacement is superb all around so I know the other one had issues. The sky was quite overcast and moody but then again it set the stage for these shots nicely. The Malad River and the Hagerman Valley are getting ready for winter. I'm loving the way DXO 4 plays with the RAW files on the R5. Fast, Easy and proficient.
This is bullying in the avian world. Although the female merganser was at this perch first, and she was there for some time, the Snowy Egret sent her packing when he swooped in and took over the perch.
