I can't find anything in the specs at Canon USA. I have been there before. Maybe this is not the correct part.

FWIW this DPR Review of the R6 that came out today says the R6 readout is 19ms so 1/52s.

Go to 12min mark:

That’s practically 1/60s!

Yep not even as good as the 1DX3 (~16.7ms) and still ~ 13ms short of the A9 (6.25ms)

The R5 will be even slower.

The R5 specs say 82ms for shutter lag but I don’t know if that is the same thing.

I shot with the R5 today, and to be honest with you I didn't even notice any blackout when shooting 12fps.

Yeah, it is amazing how good frame insertion can look....that is until you try to pan with a flying bird....then it all goes to s**t...

How responsive was the shutter? Did it feel delayed or like it lagged at all? Any other thoughts after having held it in hand?

Isn't that "cheating" and a bit disingenuous by Canon to do such a thing?

Sony A7RIV at full 10FPS (H+) in mechanical also does frame insertion...you have to set it back to ~8FPS (H) to get a live feed with just shutter blackout. Pretty much all the MILCs do frame insertion in some or all of their modes.

So the Sony uses frame insertion as well but because of the read speed you don't notice it? At their site it says blackout free shooting but is related to the electronic shutter.

How do you do that math to get to 1/60? Apparently the R's readout is 80ms.

At 10:15 he talks about readout but of course he is just speculating.

80ms is the lag with the mechanical shutter - the time between pressing the shutter release fully and image capture. It's around 50ms with EFCS.

Bobby's reference to 1/60 is that's what people were guessing the R5/R6 would be for sensor readout speed. DPR says the R6 is 19ms, which is 1/52.

Thanks. So what would 6ms be?

This Adorama dude says blackout free at 40 seconds and at the 3 minute mark. He also takes some shots which blackout for a second, but don’t appear (to my eyes) to have frame insertion; not sure what mode he was in, tho (mechanical, electronic shutter, etc.).
