Ah, hopefully the Fro or DPReview will get one soon enough, hook up the Atmos recorder and actually demonstrate the different modes. Also hopefully one of them actually pans along with a subject and doesn't just keep the camera in one position.
I had to play it about 5 times as I couldn't make out "consecutively" but that is what he said.

Yeah what he shows in the video is a gif of the frames he did...like stop motion I think what he meant is no slowdow...100 frames in a row burst. But who knows...I try to ignore the Canon ambassadors unless they start showing me live feeds of what is actually going on.

It shows mechanical shutter lag is approx. 81ms. 1DX series and 5DIV is around 55ms. So, it's longer, but this makes sense because it's a live view camera and the shutter has to close before opening for the exposure, resulting in additional delay. Electronic first curtain shutter lag is approx. 50ms.
How much this will affect timing while shooting is difficult (for me) to say due to minimal recent experience with mirrorless cameras. There's already a slight delay to the EVF feed and add to it 80ms. It might be necessary to anticipate farther ahead of an expected moment than I'm used to with the 1DXII. Things like timing a stick on puck 'one timer' slapshot during a hockey game, for example.

Thanks for that... The R wasn't great, even when you anticipate. What will be the redeeming grace here will be how tenacious eye/face AF is. If it is really fast and accurate, then you will just keep the camera going in the direction of the action and hope the camera does the rest for you on focus on the subject at hand, since it will be hard to take over the AF point to use and keeping the AF ON going to keep focus on the subject.
I haven't seen the pre-release feature mentioned. In the M6II it results in an 18MP crop.
Aside from various technical considerations, this feature would be undesirable for some of the situations in which I work where there is no time to cull images before they move down the production chain. It would result in multiples of 10 times more photos than desired.
But certainly, for some situations it would be a good thing to be able to fall back on.

Minute 1:30. What does this look like. Too bad the fellow is all over the place or is it the bird. You can see by the foot design it looks like the 100-400. The 100-500 is different.
They were truly pouting, especially Chelsea - have not been loyal to Canon-)

Most of that mechanical shutter experience looks pretty bad to me. May still be more useable in real life but there is a lot of lag between each shot with the frame insertion going on. The e-shutter looks good. I had to pause at each different segment and go frame by frame to see what settings were being used. Still no indication of mech/e-shutter but since we know e-shutter has no blackout and is fixed at 20FPS you can tell which mode he is in. Hopefully an RF lens will improve some of the mechanical lag as this was an adapted 100-400II (as seen in the title of the video).

Someone else said it may have been the way the person filmed it for the video. The e shutter apparently has rolling shutter issue like the 1DXIII and locked at 20 fps that you said in some other forum. Where did you get that info?

There is nothing definitive out there yet about rolling shutter or sensor scan read speed. But Canon notes in certain specification documents and in some of the CanonUSA promo videos that e-shutter has risk of distortion and banding under certain light sources. That strongly suggests that it will have a read speed slower than an A9 that has eliminated those problems for the most part. Whether it is faster or slower than the 1DXIII's measured 1/60s, we don't know.
The fixed 20FPS in e-shutter is found in the official spec sheets on CanonUSA and Japan. It also is that same way on the 1DXIII as per the user manual.
As far as how the video is filmed, I'm not sure what that means. Do they mean the frame rate of the video used to capture the rear LCD is creating the sense of stutter? I don't know if that would happen...I doubt it. Only a couple weeks and all shall be known one way or the other. I'm not here to praise Canon and I'm not here to bash Canon. I just want the facts so I can make my own decision if the R5 is worth the investment and worth some de-investment in my current gear.
