35mm APO and 35mm AA going to be released soon’ish’ by LLL, should be very interesting. They are taking a totally different approach than the 35 8e, 28 9e and the Elcan….in going for high resolution instead of mimicking classic lenses. Seems as though they are trying to fill a gap between Voigtlander and Leica. Overtaking Voigtlander will be tough but as a consumer I certainly welcome them trying
I think this will be the death of LLL- Maybe over stating things here but have an original thought instead of just copying lenses, especially ones that are current in Leica’s lineup.
I wouldn’t put much stock in rumors. Voigtländer has copied many lens barrel designs: the 35/1.4 and 40/1.4 Noktons basically copy the 35mm Summicron pre-ASPH, the 50/2 Heliar copied the 50mm Rigid Summar, their Nikon and Contax lenses copied S-mount, plus all of those Nikon F and Pentax screwmount look-a-likes. Nary a peep about any of those.

I ordered a Elcan black brassing version first, offered 20% less than asking price, all good.
Have tried just this, but the seller declined my offer. I don't think I want to play the LLL QC's lottery (for a brass black version, the titanium one is way too expensive anyway). I'll end up, probably, with one of the Voigtlanders, either the Color-Skopar f2.2 or the Nokton Vintage f1.5. The option of Leica collapsible seems to be risky too, due to age, soft coatings, etc.
It’s advertised for 840, then it discounted itself to 750, I offered 600 and back forth we settled at 630.
Exactly that guy. Lens listed for 749 USD, he declined my offer of 675 USD. So I have just bought the new Color-Skopar 2.2/50 from within EU, Voigtlander dealer - with warranty, returns accepted and all this stuff.
All those shots are great! I really love the character of the lens, it’s there with loads of it but it’s not showy or gimicky, I’ll throw a hipster word to the mix, organic, the other lens that makes me think of that is the Zeiss Sonnar 50mm 1.5 zm.
The lens hood on both of my 50mm f/1.2 and 28mm f/2.8 scratch the outer rim of the lens where the hood is attached. Anyone else having the same issue? I found this issue very annoying. I am surprised that LLL didn't notice this fault with all these prototypes they made for beta testing. I tried to put a thin piece of 3M tape around the rim of the lens but the lens hood didn't fit. Probably need to find more "thinner" tape for the hood to fit.

I just avoid using the included hood for the 50mm f/1.2 and got a cheap 3rd party slim threaded hood instead. It adds a very slight vignette but I feel better with it somewhat protecting the front of the lens.
How do you like the 28mm f/2.8? It's been a while and I still haven't seen anyone else review it other than macfilos whom didn't really explain the goods or the bads or the characters of the lens.
I have been using an inexpensive 3rd party threaded hood for my 50 f/1.2 as well. Besides scratching the lens, the included LLL hood for the 50mm f/1.2 has a built in UV filter which I don't like. I have ordered more 3rd party threaded hoods for all my LLL lens(28mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/2 ELCAN and 50mm f/2 SP2). Yes, they don't look like Leica "replicate" hoods but they work and most important they don't scratch and damage the lens. I'm really surprised and shocked that LLL is still providing hoods that can scratch and damage the lens to the customers.
I just got the 28mm f/2.8 and only been able to do an hour or two street photography with it. The colour, the rendering, the contrast, the sharpness...all looks good to me. Need to spend more time with it to really pinpoint the good and the bad really. But so far it looks very promising and I'm liking it for my purpose which is street photography with zone focusing.
I have the E39 Push-on Lens Hood for both of my 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/2 ELCAN. This hood is good. Same thing as the Push-on Lens Hood for the SPII. No problem with these 3.
The problem I have is the hood for the 50mm f/1.2 "1966" and the 28mm f/2.8 Nine Element. Someone has already replied and mentioned that their hood for the 50mm f/1.2 scratches the lens outer rim when it was fitted. And scratch also happens as well on my 28mm f/2.8 Nine Element.
Those inexpensive 3rd party threaded hood would solve the problem. But I hope that LLL would look into the issue and make adjustments and changes to their future products.
