It would be nice to see them , the Belted KF's look quite different to our small common Kingfisher
Thanks for the responses. I should have also asked, what OSS mode do you guys usually use with a gimbal, if at all. I suppose it depends on the situation, but I'm talking about BIF.

I have a small label note on the head shown in my photo to turn off OSS but I never do.

If I'm shooting my A9 then I just leave OSS 1 on all the time. I have turned it OFF a few times shooting swallows IF at 1/4000 or faster SS. (but A9 is always handheld)
However, if I'm shooting my A7RIV then I use either OSS2, 3 or OFF. I'll go to OFF anytime I can with the A7RIV. If I was on a gimbal I'd go to OFF. If I get my SS up to 1/1600 or faster I'll go to OFF.
Man, you have got that 2xTC working better than I've ever seen on this lens!! I jumped over to your Flickr so I could see the aperture values and more of your 1200mm shots.
Do you find you are most comfortable with f/14 or f/16? I found with my 200-600/2xTC that I didn't get a good keeper rate until I stopped down 1/3-2/3. I never really got comfortable with that combo regardless but after seeing your eagle shots I may have to try again.

after all these great BIF shots with the TC's thought I'd give it a go with the Peregrines , don't think I'd stand a chance with the Nikon TC-14e iii on my 200-500 so was pleasantly surprised with it on the 200-600

A quick question: Isee virtually all images of the 200-600G are taken with either the A9(II) or the A7RIV. Does anyone have experience with this lens on the A7RIII, and how does this combo work?
I ask because I have a A7RIII on the way for general shooting, switching back from the Nikon Z7 to Sony for all general shooting (keeping the D500+500PF though), and after all, the A7RIII is thé close competitor to the Nikon Z7 and the Canon R5 if you take mp's into account.
The A7RIII sits in the middle resolution wise, and also I have not heard of any issues from this body with the 200-600G such as the AF issues with the A7RIV.

Just before new year we went to check a new location. Unfortunately we did not find any brids out there. But a harbour was a safe bet and we got a chance to take some pics of long tailed ducks. As it was a harbout there was no access to a decent shooting position hence the higher perspective
Somehow I found all shots with 1.4TC a bit soft when pixel peeping. I tend to get very unconsistent results. Note that I had to resize and crop the images, but still.... I will investigate it, most likely user error.

I think it worked better at f16. The files were slightly better to try to pull the details out of.
I also think in better light that the files would be much easier to work with.
All of those shots had a pretty healthy dose of Topaz DeNoise done to them.
With all the camera upgrades and lens upgrades that happened in the last year,
I think Topaz DeNoise was the innovation of the year,
