I think you are right. Bring up the shadows in Lightroom an I'll bet the beak lightens up to the yellowish/black tricolored beak.

This is an image taken last month at Gatorland in Florida. Image cropped but straight out of camera and taken with tripod mounted 100-400mm GM and A7rIII.

I am going through the images of this bird and would like to process them. Anyone know what imature wading bird this is? Immature/fledgling Tricolored Heron

Much appreciated.

I tried my a6400, with the mc-11, the Sigma 150-600c, with the Kenko 1.4 tc today.
I don't recommend it. Focus was spotty at best, but every now and then it would hit.

Somewhere around 1260mm

Three young'uns, hanging out in the hood. Mom is in a nearby tree, keeping a close watch.

Still learning how to use this lens. Aperture too wide. DOF a bit too narrow. Will get it right next time.

But thought it was kind of neat to be able to get a group shot of these guys.

The second photo is now IDed and processed.

Haven't posted much lately - been spending time traveling.
This is a friendly Cape May Warbler at Magee Marsh in Ohio, last month.

I wasn't going to include the 1:1 crop (last image) because of the branch in front of the top of his head, but I never got such a good shot of a birds mouth and tongue.

All shots are with A9 and 100-400GM at 1/500 sec and f/5.6 (it was not very light).

Very nice photos. Seems like the kit is working well!
I liked your Swallow better, but thought it might be interesting to post this one anyway.

Thanks Kim! Well the Tamron 150-600 didnt focus well at all on the A7RIII but the Sigma 150-600 and MC-11 is worlds better. However im looking to finally switch to a native Sony lens so I preordered the new 200-600.

Love your photos as well.
