When I was on the 100-400 thread and looking to respond to a post about a Raven, I found that my Raven photo was taken using a different lens and I didn't think it appropriate to post an image taken with the 24-70 on a thread about the 100-400.
So, I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to start a thread that focused (so to speak) on birds and wildlife, especially now that Sony is starting to support us with better long lenses and better ability to adapt great third party lenses, like the Canon 500L IS II and 600L IS II. I am aware that there is a similar, general area, outside the Sony forum. The idea is to show what can be done using Sony cameras.
Ironically, my first post will not be with any of the latest lenses

Would you mind sharing the adapter used...... Metabones V or MC-11.
MC-11, I'm getting in the habit of prefocusing to infinity by hand before letting the camera attempt to autofocus, that helps tremendously in the 300-400mm range of the lens.
Great photos!! I espeically have a soft spot for Pileated Woodpeckers and both the juvenile Little Blue Herons and Snowy Egrets when they are showing off.
Here is one I took yesterday at Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. It was raining....which made it better.
Glossy Ibis. This one has the white fringe that makes them easily confused with a White-faced Ibis.

Do you miss a lot of shots having to manually focus? Tripod shot I'm guessing?
Some tripod, some leaning out of truck window. At close range fine feather detail shimmers when it's in focus so manual focus isn't as difficult as many would imagine. I missed some due to poor focus, I also miss some when the 100-400 & a7rIII grabs the wrong point to focus on. AF missed focus is usually a little bit off, manual missed focus is typically way off, but a miss is a miss.
I no longer am using the FD 500 and I'm now in the market for a 500mm PF.
