$6K is shocking to me. No matter the comparison to the RXR or Q2 series, that price tag just feels ridiculous. I was one show couldn't wait for this camera but at this price point, I am likely out unless it blows away the Q2.

Yes, if we consider especially the market revenue Leica creates with collectibles. Likely this is the reason why Leica still survives under those difficult times in the camera industry. Zeiss on the other hand never had a collectible items reputation - just higher price tags for higher quality lenses. Maybe Zeiss hopes to get into the collectible camera market with this one? I don't see that it will create lots of sales, but the limited number of cameras they sell might make it a rarity in a few decades?

They just counted the number of people who complained about the price and concluded that it was a measure of how desperately people want the gadget. It will come back at USD 6,995, to get a little bit of price differentiation from Leica's point-and-shoot.
It's no longer available for pre-order...this is confusing to say the least.
Oh! Not the first time I've seen pre-order strangeness from a few of these big on-line stores. So does this mean we are back to bumping the ZX1 thread every few months again ! HA HA
Or maybe someone on the B&H Web Team hit the go-live button a few days/weeks too soon.

Why do I feel like this is something I'll pick up on eBay after too many cocktails one night about 5 years from now talking about how "you know how much this thing was when it was new??"

What will the warranty period be? What is the expected service life and what computing related issues are anticipated? The YT reviewers will be the first sign its really going to appear outside the display cases.

Honestly we don't know what the price will be. B&H Photo posted $6,000 for a day and then removed it. There is no word from Zeiss. This confusion actually made things even worse for this release imo. I wish there was more transparency from Zeiss.
