I think you'd have to use the work around that Df users used for Non-AI glass. Set the aperture on the lens, then match setting on the body and it'll record.
There is no option you can manual input aperture setting on body. I no longer have any non AI lens. However, for AIS without CPU, all my D7xx/8xx series camera have aperture linkage, so when you adjust aperture on lens, body record that, though they don't record half aperture, only f1.4, f2, 2.8......
FTZ seems only support AF lens and ZF.2, which is disappointing especially for msot AIS user. I can still enter NON-CPU lens on Z (offer 20 selection, you input focal length and max aperture), so at least you know which lens you used but no more aperture information and auto aperture.

Everyone needs a great 28!
I know nothing about modern Nikon glass, but of course I have quite a few RF, pre-AI, AI and AIS. Most SLR lenses I have are pretty edgy in OOF. Sharp, yes. Mandler, no. My own stand outs are the original RF 85/2, the 300/2.8 AIS ED and 500/4 P. The latter two are really gorgeous with OOF, and there is lots .
At 28 it's still the cron for me, either on M9 or A7K. Which means I don't have a good 28 for the r2
I have 28E, it as good as otus for my use with very well controlled CA. (not as clean but still high color correction). Its corner need f5.6 to full useable on D850, but really I am either f1.4 or after f5.6 for the type I use it for.
However, after seeing what 24-70S can do, I am thinking adapting F glass on Z is not first option. I can see I will buy Z myself to take advantage of native mount: control ring, CA free, corner performance, quiet AF small size and light weight.
If you compare 35S with 28E, you will find they have similar MTF with 28E sharp on center (very very minimal difference) but 35 on corner. (1.4 vs 1.8 though) I can live with that.

A first short walk with the camera tonight. Great view finder and grip also works well but a lot of user errors and awkward fiddling with controls, I really need to read the manual this time and customise all the buttons to my liking. Image quality looks really good so far.
I shot with the zoom and the Zeiss 85 Planar ZF2 and since this is the alt forum here are some images with the Zeiss.
Back to reading the manual...
Congratulation! Great to see images are coming.
