we will probably get there around 11 on Tuesday morning and be in & out as we visit Nancy folks just down the road. So really anytime will be good. Will PM you with some contact numbers
If we do it Friday it would need to be early. We have to leave for Nashville and try to get there before dark. But then again, early is usually best huh?
My best wishes to all !!! I hope that this coming year we can have a peacefull and prosper one. Please always remember our soldiers in Iraq that they come back safely to their love ones.
Well, John, Nancy & I made it to the falls on Friday. The day was very overcast resulting in some pretty flat light. Since we have been on the road the whole time since then I haven't really had time to look but I don't think I got anything (typical of me with waterfalls) but I will look and try to find something worthy of posting. Hopefully John will post something to show that it wasn't a wasted day.
At least we got to visit with John for a while which was nice. Hopefully the Atl group can get back in the groove pretty soon and start getting some outings together.
By the way, stay away from John. He is a BAAAD man who lets you play with toys that you don't have but instantly want. You have been warned...
okay, okay, here are some photos of the waterfall. Not my best subject, so treat me kindly. These are from Mark, Nancy and my trip to Amicalola Falls last week. This time of year with grey skies tends to make for monotone.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Mine was hectic but enjoyable except for almost burning a house down.
John, It looks like you did pretty well with those conditions. The first and last don't do much for me but I really like the second shot. Your shutter speed was ideal for the water. Hard to make something stand out when there is no color at all. I have always wondered why they had to put that walkway where they did. Could be some great shots of the entire falls if it wasn't there.
I have not photographed in quite a while so I need to get away soon. Some friends have mentioned going back up to Hiawasse Wildlife Refuge on February 3rd so we might get this together in another week or so. We went there last year on Jan 28 and there were thousands of Sand hill Cranes and a couple of Whooping Cranes. I think they are there about the same time each year but I want to try and find out for sure. This refuge is very near Cleveland, TN. Also The World of Wheels will be at the World Congress Center on the Following weekend and I plan on trying to go the first day before most of the crowd comes in. Any others interested in going to either of these let me know.
Tracy/Grant, thanks for the comments.
Yes, these falls are ruined (photographically) by the cross over bridge. But I guess it was the only logical place to safely allow visitors to see the falls up close. I'm not thrilled with any of these, just responding to Tracy's challenge to show something . In fact, I hate the third photo. I only posted it so people not familiar with Amicalola would not wonder why we weren't bringing back spectacular waterfall shots .
As for the two outings in February, count me in for both!
I had to meet a customer at a Bojangles first thing this morning. There is a big grove of Bamboo growing in an empty lot behind the restaurant. Think if we brought our own bamboo we could cut to the front of the line?
