Lately, I've been going down to the Chattahoochee around Jones Bridge in Norcross. Over the past week, I've gotten shots of canadian geese, racoon, several deer, and some blue herons. This time of year, the sun sets close to the downstream part of the river, so it's nice for sunset pix, as well.
I haven't been to the Chattahoochee over there.... I wouldn't mind catching some sunset pics with you guys... when are you going again, and how to you get there from I-85?

Hey Jim:
That's pretty close from where I leave.
Do you get into the park from the entrance in Jones Bridge or the one in the other side of the Chattaoochee in Barnwell Rd.
Supergml
I've been alternating between the two sides. The park side (Gwinnett) is better for geese, while the Barnwell Rd. side has more deer and seems to be favored by the blue herons.
I live in Peachtree Station (a couple of blocks from Peachtree Corners Circle and West Jones Bridge Rd.). How about you?

Jones Bridge Park is at the end of East Jones Bridge. The other end of the East Jones Bridge (just 1.75 mi. away) is at the intersection of 141 (Peachtree Pkwy) and Medlock Bridge Road. If you tell me which way you'd be coming on I-85 (or what area you live in), I can give you specific directions.
I usually get there between 4:30 and 5:15 PM. Sunset is around 6 PM, now.
Doug Quance and I met up at Jones Bridge Park about an hour before sunset last Wednesday. Unfortunately, the water level was up and the geese stayed away. We did meet up with a nice guy who had 2 retriever dogs - a Lab and a Golden, as I recall - swimming and chasing a tennis ball through the woods. We got a few pix of them.
I haven't had a chance to go again since then, but plan to soon.
Well Gents, I have just returned from Monterey Bay, lots of images to go through. Missed the ice, got stranded in San Jose and bought a new camera, all in all a great trip, now ready for some more testing. This weekends weather is looking good.......any ideas?
The meeting was cool. They had a guest speaker..this guy from Color Genesis ( www.colorgenesis.com ). It was very interesting. They meet a couple of mondays a month. I plan on going to the next meeting which is their competition meeting. They have a themed competition that runs monthly. Someone had even brought a ton of photography magazines and where giving them away for free...i got about a 1/2 dozen really good magazines.. Drop me a email or something if you want more info.. I'd like to meet some fellow fm'ers..
I'm fairly new to DSLR. I've mostly used P&S's up until now with Canon G5, A80, S45 and 50. I live intown near Lenox Mall and would love to find a group of like-minded folks for inspiration, education, and to find great places to shoot photos. I'm going to Callaway Gardens April 16th for a workshop I heard about that's for relatively new Digital SLR photographers. I've never been to Callaway so I thought it would be a good chance to see someplace I hadn't been and hopefully pick up some good tips. If anyone else is interested you can find the info on their website.
I'd also love to find a local camera club or group of folks to share this hobby with!
Let me know if anyone is interested.

Callaway is a great place, was there myself today. Is the workshop a "macro class" ? The Day butterfly house has been remodeled and has great natural lighting, much better.
OK.....here is our chance.........April 16th at Callaway Gardens. I have a membership that will admitt up to five people in one car. Along with the Butterfly House, the gardens are close to being in full bloom. Not to mention the free flight bird venue, my favorite.
