Bob....Many thanks for the complimentary words...I will hope that we can get together for a shoot after Chicago. (I'm very familiar with Mountain Creek, btw, having played ALTA tennis out of there for many years quite some time back.)

Between the HEAT and the RAIN.........I'm looking forward to Fall !

I'm sure when the weather is a bit more forgiving folks will be ready to venture out. I'd like to plan a trip to Callaway Gardens sometime in the near future, a little something for everyone can be had there.

Bob....Best of luck on your venue, we are rooting for you.

Cheers
Gary

I'm with Gary, once it cools off a little and stops raining EVERYDAY, I'll be back shooting again.

Callaway sounds good to me.

Hey, just checking in to the boards and saw you guys plotting an outing. I'm in!

By the way, tomorrow (Saturday is supposed to be beautiful until at least late afternoon if anybody is up for a last minute shoot. If not tomorrow, I have a feeling we are in for lousy weather from Katrina through all next week.

I'm up for it.

I tried a sunrise shoot at Stone Mountian last tuesday- total joke. The haze was almost pea soup from the top, and the overcast skys didn't leave much to work with.

With a cooler day- maybe we can have some better luck.

If anyone is interested in photographing a bicycle ride the MS150 Bike ride will leave out of the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers at 8:00 am on September 10th. There will be 1000+ cyclist with several teams consisting of 25 to more than 50 Cyclist wearing brightly colored jerseys and makes for some interesting shots. I photographed this event two years ago but will be riding with "Team Bonnie" this year and won't be photographing. I will carry my little P&S just in case something special comes up though.

This ride leaves the Horse Park and goes 75km to Rock Eagle in Eatonton, GA with rest stops along the way. Sunday is the return trip back from Rock Eagle to the Horse Park.

I would be interested in the Calloway outing if it's not on the weekend of this event. I usually go to Panama City on the last weekend of September for Thunder Beach. Great event for photographing some incredible motorcycles and some interesting people.

I'm game for just about any kind of shoot in early September....Callaway to bikes to landscapes to city.

Very early morn is best for me. Can't do Sundays.

Grant, I may check out the bike ride. How will I recognize your team?

Gary,

Still waiting on word from Feisol on the HD version. Was supposed to be end of this month or first of September. What type of Car Club event are you photographing?

Hi John,

Our Team "Team Bonnie" www.teambonnie.com will be wearing Yellow/blue/black jerseys with "Team Bonnie" across the front chest and Back shoulder areas.
We have over 70 cyclist on our team. Cox Enterprises has about 80, Bell South probably over 50 and many others such as, Coca Cola, Trail Mix and Bank of America will have teams participating.

Info on the event can be found at www.ms150atlantachallenge.org Let me know if you are going to be there and I will try to make connection before we head out on the bikes.

Hey Grant.. Are you a distributor for Feisol? I was thinking of taking a look at their monopod. Also I was planning on going to thunder beach this year (was down for spring) but I think some shoots have popped up that might not let me go. Had a few buddies who were all gonna throw the bikes in a trailer and head down.. We'll see.

Grant,

Back at Atlanta Drag Strip for some bracket racing, got to love those high HP clubs! Please keep me on the list for the new Feisol.

T.K.,

Yes.......Grant is a distributor for Feisol and you'll love the monopod. I use mine for backpacking while shooting wildlife with a 500mm, gets the job done. Not to mention Grant is a super guy to deal with, top notch all the way.

I hope we can all decide on a date in the near future to put together a shoot, I've met some truly great folks from the FM site.

Cheers

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the kind words. Didn't know you had an interest in the Drag cars. I used to race back in the 60's against the Platt Brothers, (Hubert and Houston) at Yellow River Dragstrip and Newton County Dragstrip. Even helped pull Don Gartlits Swamp Rat out of the edge of Yellow River once when he couldn't stop quick enough. ( No Parachute then) The Yellow River strip is now a trailer park and I don't know if Newton County still operates. Atlanta Dragway in Commerce didn't exist at that time. I had a 55 Chevrolet with a modified 60 Corvette engine.

Since that time I photographed many times at Commerce during the Southern Nationals but never with digital. Most of my photography then was with either the Canon F1 or A1 and slide film. I still have many of the slides from that era. Can't take the noise anymore but my oldest son works some there and at Road Atlanta.

Will keep you up to date on the HD Feisol. Looks like I am not going to have an open weekend date until late October.

Hi guys:

I'll try to make it to the next meeting, my equipment has grown since the last meeting at Tour de Georgia.
So much to shoot, so much to improve, so much to learn.

Hey all,

Will anyone be here labor day weekend. I've been trying to get together with you all for a while and would still like to if possible. I just got a canon 400 f/5.6L last week and I've mostly been playing with it shooting hummingbirds in my yard.. I got one really nice photo last weekend:

http://www.pbase.com/toddao/image/48294429

I took Arhur Morris' bird photography workshop last month and I'm really itching to learn more about birds. I'm also still learning how to hold this new lens still. Let me know if any of you guys are birders or have an interest in shooting birds!

Gaby,

Just noticed your interest in the Kata 502. I have either that one or the 503. Can't recall but it's the one that has a laptop compartment. I just got it a couple months ago. Still deciding if I like it.

Todd,

I love to shoot wildlife, birds are a large portion of my images. The 400 is a killer lens for flight shots and darn good for most other work also.

I don't have my schedule for Labor Day weekend, soccer venue to cover. I know Monday is a wash, I'll keep you posted on Sat/Sun.

Cheers
Gary

Hi Todd

Thanks for your advise in the Kata bags, but I think your mistaking the models with the 102 and 103. There's no 503 model (at least it doesn't appear in the Kata website). I have the a 103 (has a laptop compartment). And I know the 207 is much bigger, but I couldn't find pictures of the interior of the bag yet from a user, not from the Kata's website.

Gary,

Amazing photo! Was that taken in the wild? Hope I can shoot with you sometime.

Gaby,

You're right, I got the 100 and 500 series mixed up....sorry. The only problem I have with the 103 is that I'm not sure I'll be able to fit everything I would want to take on a trip in there...e.g. I'll have to be very creative to get the 400 lens in there. Additionally, you almost have to have a smaller day-pack along as well. I tried schlepping that bag around Montreal about a month ago in 90 degree heat and it got old very fast. Unfortunately, that may just be the nature of the beast given the size and weight of telephoto lenses.
