I do need to make a trip to the zoo..........I have some prints to drop off. More than likely we can get a repeat of the bird venue, John and Amy are very accommodating. I need to run the Sigma 120-300 through some more test and I always use the zoo for testing........it's my baseline for equipment.
So..........I have a membership and can admit one guest. If you and Brian are OK with the zoo..........it works for me.
So based on the number of locals responding to the "Atlanta During Dusk" post in the City, Still life & Abstract forum I wanted to see who was interested in a gathering downtown?
Dusk, Dawn, Location to shoot?
Or we could keep it simple and just do a Meet & Greet and try to make some plans from there.
If you live in the Canton area..there is a group from the Cherokee Photography Club meeting at 6am Saturday July 16th at the Publix @ Riverstone Pkwy. We are going to go down to the Oakland Cemetary. PM me for info if you are interested.
Zoo sounds good to me Gary... I also would love to visit the location that was spoken of in the City Life and Abs forum. But I am good for the Zoo on tuesday I can just meet you down there. You are testing a new 120-300 f2.8 lucky dog!! I am just now getting used to my 80-400 OS.. Let me know the plans. Pray for overcast skys and no rain!!!
Glad to have you join.......I normally try to shoot early, the gate opens at 9:30am. I'll PM you my cell number. We can check the weather conditions on Monday, I'm with you on the overcast with NO rain. I'd like to give the 80-400 OS a try, how's it been working for you?
As of now I will see you there. If anything changes I will let you know but I am Golden as of now. I am loving th 80-400 OS. It is fairly sharp wide open but incredible stopped down one or two stops. Much better than my old 75-300 IS! Anyways look forward to seeing you and John there.
Weekdays and Sundays are better for me- my Saturdays are booked for the next month or so. Is anyone else available during the week? Mornings/Evenings?
If wee want to meet downtown I think the Varsity is a good spot- lots of parking, easy to find. I have an Expedition- so I could carpool some people from there.
Trying to figure out what exit to take.... I85 or I 20 I guess I will figure it out as I go. packed and ready!!! Gary... Do you ever use a tripod at the zoo? Is a monopod suitable?
Yes...........bring the tripod. I use a tripod(w/sidekick), monopod and a bean bag. Different exhibits require different methods. Ofcourse this is with the longer lenses.
Tomorrow I plan to shoot the 120-300 quite a bit...........But, I'll have the 500 with me also!!
Have a great day tomorrow at the zoo, I expect to see your results posted.
My notetbook decided to go kaput so I'll have to wait another month to buy the 70-200 f2.8 IS, as I need to replace for a new notebook as soon as possible.
Ah! I saw Lance Armstrong in the news and he sends hello to all of us saying that he's impressed from the great portraits we took from him at the Tour de Georgia .
Gaby, Sorry to hear about your Notebook.... You will get that lens some time or later!!! We had a blast at the zoo! Or atleast I did anyways. I posted three of my favortie photos in the Wildlife forum here https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/254675
How about a get together this weekend. An Idea is to roam around downtown and take photos. Maybe we can roam aroudn Oakland Cemetery and then go roam around centennial park.
