The fact that they changed AF-DRIVE to DRIVE-AF is a deal breaker....

My new Prius C has "Drive-AF".

It's the first new car with an AF transmission that I've bought since 1979 (i.e. not a 5-speed manual).

I'm right behind you, and gaining...

I agree. I much prefer the original 1DX 'curves'.
Since this camera is now also devoted to video, are you going to see video features like peaking and zebra patterns and magnification while recording?

Well, to be fair, the rest of the body looks almost identical to 1Dx. I'd say it's a supermodel with a wart on her nose.... As Vincent Vega would say: "the little differences..."

I can't comment on the video features, I don't shoot video and I don't even know what peaking and zebra pattern is...

There are some things that we need to wait for the actual announcement to understand their true benefits. When they say "Dynamic range improvement", what does this really translate to? This could be exciting or not. This by itself could make the difference to many people.

I think it is great to get an idea of what is coming, but I am still looking forward to more details on Monday.

As a previous 1DC owner and considering it was being sold for over 12K, the new 1DX Mark II seems like a deal for those who want great 4k IQ + stills in one camera, but if you don't shoot video, I don't see a competing reason to upgrade.
Are any current 1DX owners going to upgrade?

Probably not.

I'm not in a refresh situation, but the more I see this information evolve, the more confident I am in my decision to recently get my first 1DX

How it does at 16FPS with the dual-pixel (viewed thru the back screen?), will be interesting. If the dual-pixel helps with tracking and better capture rates even with standard mirror modes, all the better.

I have a 5DII and a 1DIII. This sounds like it is a better version of both cameras in their respective area ( IQ versus sports) all in one body. That is pretty amazing since neither camera is a slouch. That we can now get better performance all in one body is pretty amazing.

Really to me is the difference between this and the 5DIV. I'm guessing that will be closer in specs to the Sony A7R2 me-to.

I'm going to ask a potentially dumb question here. What does this spec really mean? AF -3EV.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposure_value

Outdoor light is 12-16 EV
Indoor office light is 7-8 EV
Full moon -2 - -3 EV
Brides face on the dance floor with dance lighting (less than -3EV) - that is why an on camera flash with focus assist is necessary

I really liked the 1d4, but I love the 1dx. If the 1dx2 is almost as good as the upgrade from the 1d4 to the 1dx was, then I am probably going to upgrade at least one of my 1dx bodies. Improved AF is always nice and if the sensor is also a little bit better, then I probably will hope to have one in time for my son's senior year of HS football. GPS is a bonus and I hope it has anti-flicker too, even though I don't see it listed in the latest rumor, it's hard to believe it would not be included.

I have the feeling this 1DXII is more of a real "I do things right cam" rather than a "spec sheet cam".

Whenever we see the sample pictures and high ISO from it, we will all be drooling.

Here's hoping because that's pretty much exactly what the 1DX was for me. I was on the fence about it too, but I caved and in use I'd guess it increased my keeper/productivity in the 30-50% range per sports event in respect to technically acceptable images (moving subjects in focus). The jump from 10 to 12 fps made a fair difference in this, if you consider it provided ~20% more images per second, and with better AF tracking consistency, more of those were usably sharp. Now we're looking at 14fps with the mirror... could be a similar jump. When a player bursts through a seam for a half second before being tackled, it could mean an extra couple frames.

Good question about whether it has anti-flicker. That would be useful at times. I wonder how loud it is. Mirror flapping like that... But from the photos I see my desire for a slimmed down design won't be realized, again...

Prism design doesn't bother me other than the extra edges will mean faster paint wear up there. Kind of looks a bit like a mohawk.

Vertical grip thumb rest appears to be recontoured, possibly for the better.

Yes. I'm betting that it will be more valuable to people who don't have a 1Dx already than to people who do. The former will possibly like it a lot. The latter may decide to save their money.

I suspect that the section at the top of the prism is made of some sort of plastic--to facilitate transmission of radio signals to/fm the GPS antenna. So I'm guessing that paint wear won't be a problem.

A plastic prism may crack on impacts and allow water ingress. I don't want any silly GPS to weaken one of the most likely impact areas on the camera. It's not supposed to be a Rebel or D3xxx body.

Maybe so, but I'm guessing that's what you're going to get. Top quality, impact resistant plastic. Could be wrong of course.

EV is Exposure Value. AF (at) -3 EV means the camera AF system can lock onto a reasonable subject in very low light (probably assuming a f/2.8 lens).

Here's a more-or-less complete EV Table. It distinguishes between incident light (which illuminates the scene in front of you), and reflected/direct light (which is what comes into the camera, and what your camera's light meter measures).
