The 50 MP samples are cool, but it's a shame about the DR and ISO. Looks like it will be more of a niche camera (nothing wrong with that, just likely reduces the customer base quite significantly).
Anyone see mention of faster FPS in crop modes? Or spot metering at any AF point? I haven't yet but I'm still reading.

They also removed not only headphone jack but mic jac at all so audio can only be through internal mic and internal audio amp or a completely external system!
Don't know where you get your info, but the pictures of the camera clearly show HDMI out and microphone in. So I distrust the other "info" in your post too.

I was hoping for some increased FPS in crop mode. That would have made me consider this over a 7DII to add for maximum reach scenarios. I would have liked to have used the 50MP for some landscapes and the crop mode for reach on distant birds. I think with the specs as they are, I'll pass on this offering, get a 7DII and save $$ for a future 1DXII.
That all said, I hope some people will find enough to like in this camera to purchase it. It should meet some specific needs for certain photographers. It will be interesting to see what the a7rII/a9 brings to the table to compete.

Oh brother! Not even a mention of more DR in this release so it's probably just a scaled up 7D2 sensor!
[EDIT: it's practically confirmed that it is just a scaled up 7D2 sensor with a new CFA array! ]
It doesn't even offer more speed in crop mode like Nikons do! A Nikon FF can give you high MP in FF for landscapes and then high fps and high reach for field sports and wildlife in cropped modes.
The video is even lower spec than the 5D2 never mind 5D3 never mind a 5D3 with ML! Wow no 4k, not even 10bits, not 4:2:2, no zebras, no focus peaking, ML won't work on it for many months if ever, no 1080P RAW. For all we know it is riddled with aliasing too like the 70D video.
So let me get this, compared to my 5D3 I get: worse fps, worse SNR (?), worse video quality, worse video usability features, worse video audio quality, the same old 2007 DR (?) and the only things better about it are the two times the MP, possibly a bit better color and better metering (but still no spot linked to AF point!)
So we are supposed to pay more than the 5D3 intro cost and get every aspect worse other than for DR (which is likely the same) and just two times the MP?
And the thing is I could've totally overlooked the whole video aspect on this had it been the true stills beast we expected.
Canon appears to be trying to switch their strategy and make cameras for niches instead of a jack of all trades. Obviously, this camera is not filling the niche you're interested in.

The most disappointing thing being that the forums will now be clogged for at least several more years of arguing about the benefits of dynamic range
Or rather clogged with posts downplaying or disputing the benefits of higher DR.

I'll let others on this forum talk about DR ad nauseam, but I'm def curious to see if Canon improved their colours and true pixel quality with this "new CFA array" (I'm not too familiar with the technology behind it)
As someone with many full-time studio colleagues, I know this could be an important factor for a lot of studio/commercial photographers.. Canon lenses + 50MP + great colour fidelity at ISO100 in studio at $3700 would be hard to look away from. For me I want true colour reproduction in any lighting conditions, not just natural light, and I look forward to playing with the RAW files once they become available.
Hope Canon didn't just scale up existing technologies and go for the "Hey we have a FIFTY mp camera, we're the best" marketing ploy with this.
PS. the 11-24L interests me a ton.. but that price is steep for someone who doesn't shoot interiors for a living.

That appears to be exactly what they did, unfortunately. Canon claims ISO performance similar to 7DII (which is weird since it has a way lower ISO ceiling), and they confirmed DR is the same as the 5DM3, which is worse than the 6D.
It's looking more and more like 50MP is all it has going for it over a 5DM3, or the cheaper D810 for that matter.
