I pre-ordered from BH Photo the first day they were taking orders. Today my camera arrived in the mail with no advanced notice. It was a very pleasant surprise. Have not had a chance to play with it, but it felt wonderful in my hands. The texture of the body is thick, soft and rubbery - feels very comfortable in the hands. I also like the aspect ratio of the LCD on the back.
Hopefully, a lot of you who've ordered from BH will be receiving yours today, as well!

Please check your spam filters and anything else that might have intercepted our email. If we're missing something on our end as far as "your order has been shipped" messages we want to correct it.

Henry-
FYI I didn't get my order shipped emails either. Checked my spam filters as well. I got the order confirmed, and even the backorder notices. But no shipped notice for my 5dmk3 or new 600ex flashes.
Also, any word on the st-e3 controllers? I have one on order.

Thanks. I've alerted the people here who need to know

Ordered mine on April 1st! I can't wait. My first FF camera and an upgrade to my 30D that I have been shooting with since 2004. Not sure how long I will wait, but I know it will be worth it.
B&H Photo received and shipped a batch of EOS 5D Mk III cameras yesterday and another BATCH is being processed right now. I'm not at liberty to say how many but a BATCH is more than a batch.
woohoo! thanks for the update Henry. I was sure I would be waiting until after the holidays. Here's hoping mine is in the BATCH. I ordered on March 13th. fingers crossed.
I ordered from Amazon on March 30th and they shipped today. Woohoo! Got this email from them.

We have good news! We're able to get this part of your order to you faster than we originally promised:
"Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS with 1080p Full-HD Video Mode Digital SLR Camera (Body)"
Previous estimated arrival date: May 04, 2012 - May 31, 2012
New estimated arrival date: April 10, 2012
I've been keeping tabs on this forum, thinking my mkIII wouldn't arrive until late April, even early May. I tend to plan for worst case scenarios.
Much to my surprise, the order I placed on 3/4 went out yesterday. I was very happy to see that email notification.
What matters is I will be getting it before I actually need it for my next job, which will let me use it then and test beforehand.
Thanks Henry & B&H! I'm really glad for everyone's sake that you've been getting more batches of the cameras and that you have shipped them out so quickly.
Just called around most stores I know, nothing is available Calumet, Canoga, Beach, Norman etc Interesting how many of them Canon did in total up to date? 100? They seem not up to speed after tsunami, everything is delayed forever....

Two points:
A. It's not different from the situation of distribution for the previous versions. In fact, the speed from announcement to actual availability has been rather astounding.
B. Of course Canon is not up to speed after the tsunami. Honshu lost a full 25% of its total power generation capacity. That's a crippling blow.

Agree, besides actual availability to me is walk in to Any store and buy. Or open any web site and buy. I own 5D & 5D2 since day one of their availability, and I remember what happened.
Should they consider building factories in China or other places? Look what Apple does with new iPad's, they are really available since day one. And they are selling in much bigger numbers than Canon.

To expect constant supply in "any" store is an unreasonable expectation this soon after announcement--items simply don't get shipped worldwide that fast.

Apple does and in much bigger numbers for any of their extrimely popular products. I agree for lenses it is tough since more complicated products to build but cameras by far not.
