Daan, you will like the better AF, this also adds a better feeling of responsiveness, since focus locks faster. For everything else, for your kind of photography I think the mkII is still good enough. Try a CPS loaner before you decide. I expect the first models to be in the Benelux begin of April. Have EOSfun
The 5Dmk3 is £3000 for pre-orders in the UK, body only. I was going to pre-order if it had been up to £2400, now Canon can go f*** them selves. A new 5Dmk2 can be had for £1500 right now.
CANON RIPOFF Suddenly that D800 is looking a lot more attractive and I never thought I'd say that.

Thanks. I'll check one out before for anything else.

I am a nice chap, you..... nice chap you but I'm stinkingly furious at the ripoff. I thought my mate was having me on when he told me the price. The 5Dmk3/24-105 kit on B& H is still cheaper than the 5Dmk3, body only, in the UK, so how would you feel? I dont want to buy a Nikon. I have a 1Dmk4, which I love, and there is no Nikon equivalent (16mp APS-h etc). I was really looking forward to ordering a 5Dmk3, but I refuse to fork out £3000 for one. I hope UK buyers follow suit and price drops to a reasonable level quickly.
No more ranting, I'm go to cry in a corner now
edit** I have just been offered a used 5Dmk2. maybe I'll sell the 7D, buy the 5Dmk2 and wait for the 5Dmk3 price to drop to a reasonable level.

why not buy it from BH and ship it to UK, thats actually what I did. however our customs fees 5% which isn't that much compare to the actual price.

Yes, sell the 7D, especially if you already have the 1DmkIV. I have both 7D and 5DmkII and only the mkII very recently. Thought I'd run a 2 camera setup with the 7D for wildlife but the 5D's files are just sooooo much better that the 7D only benefits for tracking BIF and in reach limited scenarios. I've not touched the 7D since I've got the 5DmkII. I just preordered the mkIII from B&H as I can easily get by with 6fps and the rest of the benefits are staggering over the 7D or even the 5DmkII.
for 3500 I will not be buying this one yet. 3000 I would make the pre order just becuase of the focus.
Canon is stating a two stop iso noise advantage in jpeg but seems like the RAW is only marginally better. I dont see a reason to upgrade so quickly, maybe when the price comes down and it is confirmed that the auto focus works properly.

Very good point. The 1D4 files cr*p all over the 7D's too. The 7D is fun to use though.. I got the 7D first and only added the 1Dmkiv when I had a bit good fortune on the lotto . not a huge amount, but enough to make it affordable. I know many cant see the benefit of the 5Dmk3 over the mk2, but I think with all the tweaks, it will add up to a significantly better camera. Hope you enjoy your 5Dmk3. I'm not jealous, I promise

I hadn't thought of that, so it may be worth looking into cheers
Damn Ferrari! That F12 berlinetta isn't nearly worth what they are asking for it. It's hardly even better that the 458 Italia for gosh sakes, and that's been around a couple of years now. How in the heck do they think they can set prices like that? There's no way, I mean NO WAY I'll buy it unless they reduce the price, and I mean a lot.
For $3,500 I can get the new Fujifilm X-Pro 1 , plus 3 new prime lens 12, 35, 60 and a lot lighter than a lighter 5D3 + 3 similar lens. At $2,700, it could definitely change my equation, otherwise - I am still happy with my classic 5D for a long time.
