I actually did not pre-order, I kept thinking I could wait or get the 5Dmkll refurb deal, but the more I read the more I salivated and could not stand the thought of not having all the improved features! Some one on facebook told me to try Midwest and I put my order in Friday , so pretty quick notification! I am excited!
I will say, though, that I'd be irritated as all heck if a company sold me a 5DIII body in a kit box without the lens/pouch/hood etc. I think it's a little dishonest. They should at least have the courtesy to state this on the website.
Best Buy has them in stock. I cancelled my BH pre-order which was placed within 4 hours of their opening for orders after having heard nothing from them and got one from Best Buy instead.

Yeah, they probably should have mentioned that but I wouldn't have cared, I just wanted the camera. Why would you have cared so much? The only negative is that the box is huge compared to the regular camera box and I guess at resale people might care? I still don't see why it really matters. They just opened the main box and pulled out the white box that the lens is in and then I guess they must sell that lens (hopefully that is at a discount).

With all you guys canceling your 5D III back orders at B&H does that mean I'm first in line now?
Looks like the local resellers in the SF Bay Area have plenty of 5D III's in stock now too.
B&H showed my back order for two Canon 600EX-RT flashes went to the warehouse around noon yesterday with priority overnight shipping but they never got them shipped! Doh! At least they are making some progress.
Confirmed on Texas Media - in stock. Nice folks. I just bought the WB (lens removed) from Imaging World, no tax, free overnight to DC. Hopefully it actually happens./
Imaging World shipped same day, to arrive tomorrow. Soooooo excited.
I just received an email from Amazon that they would deliver a 5D-III body on Friday 3/30 (2 day Prime) which was ordered 3/2AM. So, there must be more becoming available tomorrow or the next day.
B&H also told me they would have some body-only available by the end of the week.

I live in Austin, called these guys up, they still had both KIT & Body in stock. Went over, super helpful and super nice folks. Eric was the front door person and willing to match B&H prices (ehm irrelevant in this case but good to know for future purchases). They were knowledgeable on the TX sales tax exception on video & camera equipment, overall the experience was super positive and significantly better than the shop across lamar.
They still have kits & body only in stock, if you are looking for one give them a holler.
I told you guys long ago to hit the smaller stores, not B&H or Adorama. It's the same way Canon has always distributed the 5D series--shallow and wide.
