I think it's obvious something is on the horizon. Whenever Canon puts a camera on their loyalty program, it usually means something new is looming. It happened with the g 10, 11, etc. Now canon is practically giving away the 5d ii's....so something is up.
It is going to be a FF with 156 MPixel sensor (because Canon already had their first 120 MPixel APS-H sensor).
It has ISO up to 204800, what you can't see with your eyes the camera can capture.
It is going to have 256 Star (*) focusing point, yes not horizontal (-), not verical (|), not plus (+), to cater for diagonal lines.
It has intelligent focusing tracking base on your eye's movement.
It has a 3" 4 MPixel AAMOLED (Advance AMOLED) backled display
It is going to have 4 x Digi V image processors to cater for the 120 fps.
It is going to support full HD movie up 120 fps even cater for 3D images at 60 fps.
It has water and dust seal up to 12 meter under water.
It is the size of the 5D w/wo vertical grip for those who want it or not for portability.
It has inter-changable view finders like vertical or 90º.
It has inter-changable sensor back for different sensor size and format.
It fully support future global environment protection by allowing to upgrade only those components that needs upgrade at the same time enable the return of the existing parts for a discount.
The best part of it is that it is going to be no more than USD 3200.
The wish list goes on and on but it will never be here, Lets dream on...
Oh! I forgot about what it is called. It is the all new EOS E1 (what comes after the letter D and truly an ELECTRONIC system).

Ok now you're just dreaming, 156mp? I'd think with the current restraints, we're looking at 132.7 mp...TOPS...But I'd imagine that to look very nice at a true ISO of 200K range...

Had a short chat with the top guy in Canon NJ(don't ask me who he is), when he asked me what cameras are in my bag( what I am shooting with), I told him that I still prefer the 1Ds Mark III compared with the 5D II due to the AF and handling, he told me that you may need a new camera, I said WHAT? A new small form camera with pro-AF system and built quality is coming? He smiled and said YES !
Let's see what it will be, and don't hold me accountable, lol......
Cheers
Let me get this right.
You're talking to a "guy' but can't tell us.
There's a camera coming out.
Don't hold you to it.
I heard that d700 had good af but nothing earth shattering.n0b0 wrote:
What do you consider as pro AF? Nikon D700's 51 AF points with only 15 cross type? Pfft... I'd rather have 7D's 19 ALL cross type AF. Quality over quantity, trimmed of excess fat.
What's wrong with the 5D2 build quality? I haven't heard of any 5D2 falling apart while being used.
And what words do you expect Canon to use in their press release?
"Here's a new camera, it's called 5D Mk III. Just go to our website and check the specs yourself. If you like it, buy it, if not, don't."
The FF 5D3 with the 7D focus is a great idea, I'm sure its on the books, but I'm kinda curious why Canon went xxD to 7D. I'm kinda leaning toward a 1Ds 1.6 crop camera. They already went 1.3 with great result. The 1.6 offers more lens legth and is incredibly fast. All in all, a 1Ds build for the sports and wildlife shooters...1Ds8D ?
New info!!!! A new camera is coming from Canon!!! It will be differerent then their old models!!! There will be no limit to the amount you can buy.... There will be USA and Imported models and it will fit some Canon lenses....but not all....Stay tuned.......

Is it going to have an "OnStar" safety device and camera security system, so if I fall I can call for help
That's not really that bad of an idea :-)
Some of us get into some pretty hairy locations around the world, by ourselves...
GPS will probably be in many of our cameras soon...and with those coordinates, it wouldn't
be that big of a stretch to have a help beacon in there too :-)
John, in a way it may be considered that. Yet, Lide is not a person to fabricate or embelish a story. He did get a sort of an insider hint and he passed it along to us.

Why do people always assume that such a camera would inevitably become an EOS 3D? I think it's more likely that Canon is going to be making a digital version of the EOS 1v.

new camera (3D?) = FF, 7D'ish AF, 15MP, 8FPS, $2800 I'll take two! Then, they'll introduce the 5D3 with minor updates and people will continue to buy the 5D line due to the higher MP.
