Welcome to the thread. It’s been a little sleepy as of late. The 55 3.5 is an amazing lens with lots of followers here. Keep posting you’ll enjoy the camaraderie on this thread.
Welcome to you also. As stated above it’s been a little sleepy as of late. Your 55 2.8 also has lots of followers here. Keep posting you’ll enjoy the camaraderie on this thread.
The UD is quite sharp. not a big difference over the years for that. Note the filter cuts into the UD corner but not in the AIS corner. Prices fir the UD and AIS are not that different. The UD is more fun, the AIS is better.

Andy your trip sounds like my kind of road trip. Have fun and keep up the nice images.
Laura we're back from Michigan and passed thru Dayton at 0800 on the way home. Was thinking of breakfast but we pushed on!
Jay are those hummingbirds shot taken at the Saguaro Park in Tucson. Been there and its a terrific place.
Now here are some pictures of the inner ARK. Perhaps there is a naval architect on tis thread that can comment! Seems like the iron braces and strong ties were a little after Noah's time. The other thing I found strange was the large animals were on the upper deck while the insects were in the hull. He definitely needed a cargo master. But he included a gift shop on every level. ...Show more →
Continuing my deranged experiment shooting manual focus lenses on fast moving critters, these, like the previous one were taken with no flash. In this case I used a D850 with the less capable IQ of the 200mm f/4. Exposed at 1/4000 at 1250 ISO f/4, this is not a crisp as the 180mm f/2.8 at f/4, but probably passable..
More amazing shots Jay ! I'm seriously impressed, especially without flash.

I'd no sooner posted this than our old friend the Knysna Turaco pitched up for some of our wild fig tree fruit. Ingrid cut up some pawpaw and he flew in to have his fill. I grabbed my camera - still set up as above- and had to back into the lounge to get his head and shoulders..
I recently picked up a Nikkor 35/2.8 PC AIS (latest model with black knob, probably early 1990s) here on B&S. I previously owned the much earlier late-'60s Nikkor 35/3.5 PC, but this is a much newer design and better coatings.
This model has strong field curvature on Commlite adapter for Sony.
I'll try next on Sony with intermediate dumb adapter Nik - Canon EF to Sigma MC-11 and see if that improves, or how it compares to Nikon D800e (haven't tried yet either). I also want to see how it does on Canon R with appropriate adapters.
Lens provides some great color and interesting effects so far, and I'm happy with the purchase.
