The 20mm 2.8 ais came in from EBAY, the bet paid off with a lens worth $650 new landed for $200 in almost new condition.
This is not my lens, just a Nikon product picture, no time to take its picture yet. Mine is SN 221111.

Test photo with the lens, tested extensively and it is a good one:

This is same place, same processing, with the 20mm 2.8 AFD. The AIS seemed to be a bit sharper across the frame at all apertures to me.

This is the true difference from the older 20mm, the sun is in the frame in this picture.

With the 20mm 3.5 UD, sun in frame would look more like the picture below.:

The UD is quite sharp. not a big difference over the years for that. Note the filter cuts into the UD corner but not in the AIS corner.
