M8 with Elmarit 90. It confused my as to why I am seeing the noise only to realize that I shot it with M8 and not 240.

Vik, gorgeous sky colors!

Gary, beautiful travel shots. My favorites are #3 and #4.

Werner, the second shot is a masterpiece. Great composition and b/w tones.

Edward, nice to see you
Werner, you're giving me Monochrom-envy. Great Photos.
Gary, great photos. By coincidence, I just got home after having dinner at a restaurant named Soldier Svejk, a schnitzel and a Bernard dark bier.

killer shots, guys

here I feel like I channeled Edward, not sure how or why, maybe the colors? jus the first one:

L1025015 by unoh7, 50 cron 2.8

L1025040 by unoh7, 50 cron

First time on skis. By shear chance her dad taught at university with my sister for 20 years in Olympia!

She loves it:

L1025049 by unoh7, 50 cron

It was very warm, with crazy gorgeous low sun over some fast moving high clouds. Should have broke out the wides, but they were not handy

Despite the tight frames, Mandler's 50 caught the mood I often forget what an unbelievable lens this is..one of my first M lenses, I traded an inherited 50 Lux, circa 80s, for it, because the cron was so much smaller and lighter.

I sometimes debate whether it was the right trade, since probably the lux was worth a bit more. But not today

Also, I switched to a Barton1972 Braided Style Strap, for a change, and it's pretty sweet. TY to Huff for his review which brought it to my attention

Most of you probably know about these, but what makes them especially nice on the neck is that they are stretchy, not to mention very cool looking. I've never owned a camera so often admired in public They often remark on the Luigi too.

Thank you Joakim!

Vik, you really have steady hands to shoot with a long lens at 1/8

Gary, beautiful shots with different color balance than usual (sunset time?). I really like the sky in #1 and the composition in #2.

Charlie, is that the Pope? Very nice set!

Thanks Edward! Yes, late in the evening while having dinner on rooftop bar/restaraunt. The special of the evening was pork knee and small batch Belgian beer. Yummy.

Gary, Edward, Joakim, SKumar, Charles, Jojomon, burningheart,
Thanks to all you guys for the likes.

Edward, I think what let me shoot that steady shot was
1. Evening time shot so no more caffeine in blood
2. Evening time shot but no beer last night
3. Few years of work experience with knife and other sharps at work in more critical situations

Now here is what actually happened
1. He was absolutely engrossed and thus very still
2. I braced myself to table to make myself steady
3. I shot @1/30 - got it, then shot at 1/15 - got that too reasonably well so felt inspired to shoot even slower and luckily got it better than 1/15.

Now, I must admit that even though sony a7 is mirrorless too, I have mostly failed to get a slow shutter spped shot without blur. With leica I feel I can get it at a fairly good number of occasions if I pay attention to it.

Great shots everyone!!!

The ability to shoot consistently with 1/15 sec with M9/M240 and MM is not often discussed when comparing the differences in high ISO shots. With good technique, having the ability to shoot 1/15sec with the 50 Lux is about 2 1/2 stop advantage over the A7 and A7r which typically require 1/100sec. With the A7s having a silent shutter, it is possible to shoot at lower shutter speeds.

Charles, always love to hear from you, and I think you are making a good point with one caveat. If there are people in the shot they better hold really still

The M9 can be shot with very low shutter, but in event situation I rarely use it because I get blur with small movements. Generally I think 80 is the lowest, with 125-200ish the most reliable.

But my technique is still evolving so perhaps one day I can pick my situations on the fly better and drop low in the stillness....ad hoc

Charlie, thanks! Yes, but with night shots so long as the eyes and main features are sharp, it add to the effect. Generally with the M9 on the dark streets, I would set the ISO at 2500 or 1600 and 1/30 to 1/60sec, and then push the exposure when I needed. I was always surprised at the shots you could get with low level lighting, as it would not look good on the LCD, but then it come alive on the computer screen!

Gary, awesome shot!
