Thanks everyone for the many CY 35-70 3.4 shots. Some lens. Does anyone have a sense of how this lens has been doing price wise? Has this lens been going up in price? I see them at near 700$ at KEH right now. www.jcolwell.ca lists one selling for 550 at KEH earlier this year. On the other hand, two sold on ebay under 400 (one listed as excellent and one good) over the last two weeks and one up to 159.50 at present. I do wonder if the main thread here on this lens had any impact before it was archived.
Below $500 for the 35-70 is probably a good deal if the lense in excellent condition. I think it is a bargain consider what you could do with the lense.
*Above image: Left was taken today the Right 1 1/2 year ago. I approximated the distance, obviously used the same framing and flipped the Left image horizontally. Very happy with how it came out. Guess I'll be taking a snow version in month or two
*@f/2.8? Maybe f/2 due to the specular lights not being totally hexagonal like they should be at f/2.8
bluetsunami, that bokeh is fabulous, 2nd from last; some people say the 50/1.7 is a little nervous but I love the 'Ridley Scott' look this one has, and we await the spring version of the 'two trees' ;~)
inglis, I think cold places are the most beautiful, the earth is pared back to its true self...
Those mountains are around 6000m, 15-20kms away, the shots are from about 4700m, about 100-200mm. The effect of the 'silky' shot is due to intense UV. The lens tends warm, a soft orange, but is easily handled and has its own signature, like all the CY lenses. Vignettes a bit too, like many CY zooms. I love the greens and autumn colours on this page.
Can anyone tell me if this looks unsaturated and brown? It is SOC but in Safari on my macbook looks very red and nicely saturated. I looked at it in Firefox on my work PC though and it looked murky brown and a bit dull. Not sure if I've messed up my profiles since changing settings in Photoshop for a recent print I did.
Anyway, here are a few more from my CY 35 1.4 and 100 f2, taken in Kyoto:
