You guys are good...I just took a dremel to my 5D a few days back to get my 18mm to clear the mirror. I never thought I would do such a thing, being content with my Leica R glass. However, more staring prompted a trip to the store and then a little sanding. Haha.
I'll be back to post some shots shortly. Atleast when I get something I am "somewhat" satisfied with.
Hi, which Leica lenses are you planning to replace with Zeiss? I am now choosing between 19 elmarit and Distagon 21. The first is more readily available in used market.
I don't think these small thumbnails give you any idea
Not so good @1.2, with difficult lightning need lot of PS, not good in this. Issues about adapter thickness has been discussed here. Third adapter for me, not perfect yet One sample handhold, practically with no light, dark and cloudy, rainy autumn evening: http://www.tulutudtegevused.eu/gallerii/p/21
@1.4 head above 1.2 @2.0 usable, @2.8 wont get better in terms lp/mm, only gain in DOF till diffraction hits (Canon 85/1.2 will improve all the way till diffraction).
Usable (for me at least) with Live-view, forget about chipped adapters. For APO-SUMMICRON-R 90 mm f/2 ASPH I buy LCDVF must try with this. Precision in focusing is crucial for this lens. 5D II- anything ISO100 higher and you will lose in detail, I wish could choose ISO10 ;-)
If only they learn how to make cameras with better sensors... And yes, this is lens made in 1982.
So love and hate relationship ;-) Not actually using this, difficult lens to use. Made only few test shoots but almost buy third copy as it went under EUR 2000 in Foto-Huppert.
These are with the 85 f/1.4 and 50 f/1.4. All except the pano are f/1.4 to f/2. I don't have stopped down shots at hand, but they are both spectacularly sharp.
These are all with the 85 1.4 I just got . I really like this lens stopped down... wide open my 85L II just destroys it... there seems to be some veiling flare even with a hood at 1.4 or 2.0 on the Zeiss. Stopped down, this lens is MAGIC. I can't wait to use it properly as I am off for the next 2 days! Now, for some images...
Here is a quick snap with the last of the C/Y lenses I picked up... the 25/2.8. Got this one also for $300. I was going ro get the 50/1.4 she had but it showed A LOT of oil on the aperture blades. Anyway...
Out of the 85, 35, and the 25, I am definately most attached to the 35. The 85 is a close second. I don't know how I feel about the 25 yet. We will see.
I heard the 28 was better than the 25, but I only have $300 in the 25. I see them go for about $500 on KEH so I got it to try out. I am happy, the corners are much better than I expected they would be after hearing how mediocre this lens was in the corners. I just need some time to get aquainted with this focal length... it's been a while since I used a really wide manual focus lens. Even with the EE-S screen, it's not as easy to nail focus as the 35 and the 85 are.
I am smitten with the 35. It just makes anything look interesting. Observe:
I am happy to have stumbled over this deal on these lenses as I really like the people here in the Alt forum. There is so much great photography here, something that is lacking from some of the other forums I visit. Thanks.
