Been patiently waiting for a good deal on a 50/1.4 after looking through images taken with it and noticing it had a special, more "modern" character, finally nabbed one for $50 tucked away in a lot with a bunch of junk lenses. Sticky aperture blades but otherwise optically excellent--like wow, this thing renders almost exactly like a Loxia lens, way punchier and crunchier than all the other Contax lenses. Blows the 50/1.7, which I found lackluster, completely out of the water.

Congrats on that price! While owning two P50/1.4 I must confess being less enamoured with the design due to extremely nervous b/g bokeh. It is about the sharpest double-gauss in existence, however, with high contrast and excellent handling. My favorite C/Y Planar is the 100/2 which gives up some qualities versus the 50 but gains other ones. The image-making ability of CZ C/Y is undiminished even against the lenses of today: I'm not selling any of mine.

The 100/2 is the one I desire most and am constantly looking out for. Fingers crossed I find one sometime soon!
