Outstanding! Was that really lightning ? Prop. motion is one thing I have trouble getting it right, unless the plane is not moving
Douglas, it is a reflection of the sunlight on the prop when the prop is near a 45° angle to the sun (my theory, not fact), along with a very slow shutter speed. Instead of a shadow moving along a plane (geometrically) shifting with the subject, it is the reflected sunlight moving down, or up the prop as the aircraft moves.
Jim and our old friend Glenn Watson are masters at catching this phenomena. I only get it by accident:
QANTAS just recently re-started service back from Australia to DFW Airport. Formerly they were flying a B-747-400, then they went to the A-380. Now, after a two year absence, they've started service back with a B-787. On Friday, they brought in one of their special scheme birds.
According to some websites, this paint scheme is honoring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. They previously had a B-747 with a similar scheme in red, that every now and then would come to DFW, also.
Humility looks good on you Ray, but I think we know better than that🤣luck favors the prepared. Ray Swindle wrote:
Thank you Anthony! Sometimes I feel like the "blind squirrel".
I’m out at the hangar helping a new tenant get settled. Just sitting now, watching the cirrus clouds drift through our gorgeous Texas sky. If the windsock wasn’t sticking straight out, I’d be warming up the Cub, but it’s what we affectionately call “a wedding night windsock…” so the Cub will stay in the hangar .

Took me a few seconds to tell which hand belongs to which.. Great capture of the moment!
It's being speculated that the Blue Angels will join the Thunderbirds in the show at Dover AFB in Delaware in May. Would be neat to see them both in the same show. They did that a few years ago at the Andrews AFB but the weather/light was horrific.
Have to sneak in some eagles from yesterday.
Douglas just superb photography! I could reach out and touch these beautiful creatures!!!
Extremely well done my friend!
Dan
Thank you Dan and Anthony! Great shots, Jim, Jay and Ray!
It was just officially announced that the Blue Angels will be joining the thunderbirds at the Dover AFB show in May, so far the only show featuring both this year. Hope the weather will cooperate, and no more Xi Virus cancellation!

Years ago I flew nonstop from Auckland, New Zealand to Los Angeles, it was one of the longest flight, if not THE longest flight that time, something like 17 or 18 hours. I flew nonstop from Newark, NJ to Hong Kong many times, LONG flights as well and over the Russian airspace! I haven’t flown since the pandemic. I watched a YouTube channel few days ago about how many extra hours it is adding to some flights because the Russian air space is no longer open to those flights.
When they were busy setting up, I had the feeling that the photographer didn't like me taking some shots
So i sat down on the floor and just looked how they did things and when the time was there i took the shot and went on my way
A wise man here once told me, do you want the shot or not this was way before we met in person some years later
