A news item Jim, and others who have commented on the high cost of lumber, may find amusing:
"Aurora (Ohio) police posted on Facebook that someone buried boards with nails sticking out of them in two gravel areas where officers park to conduct no-through-truck traffic and speed enforcement. 'Fortunately for us, a law abiding citizen observed a male in a blue plaid jacket situating the boards just perfectly in an attempt to flatten some tires,' the post says. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Aurora Police Department. . . .
'With the rising cost of lumber, we would really like to get these boards back to him."
Thanks Guys! I was in that helicopter for a couple of hours last week. The empennage apparently failed for some reason. Horrific ride down. I have to say, this stuff is getting a little close to home. There were two souls on board, no survivors obviously.
Sorry for the loss of life. I see the link I posted upgraded the casualties to 2 from 1. Take care Jim. It's a dangerous world out there!
I had to replace a shingle on my gable roof yesterday from our high winds earlier this week. Everything went OK for this septuagenerian and I didn't even slip or drop any tools off the roof. The only problem was when I lifted the bundle from the floor of the barn and I tickled some of my internal intercostal muscles around my ribs. Guess I need to get back on my weight lifting routine!
I have a good friend in one of the hangars that was a Blackhawk squadron commander. He was out today and we were discussing the Robinson crash. His thought was that the "teetering" rotor system on Robinson helicopters is intolerant of abrupt G force. His words were, "if you pull hard on the cyclic in a Robinson, you are going to chop the tail off.............." This was a student getting ready for a check ride and they had been flying since early in the morning. They had made one fuel stop back at The Garland Heliport and then ventured out to Ralph Hall Airport in Rockwall for more training. They were on their way back to Garland when things went badly. The video is horrific.
Every once in a while I get one of those goofy photos. This is one. When I was backing up the files from last nights soccer game this file caught my eye. First, because the girl was doing a "header", then because o she had her hands curled like a cats paw...then I saw the third hand...where did that come from. Well, obviously from the defender, but it is hard to tell with this one frame...
My Canon guy texted me yesterday to tell me that there was an R5c sized box on his desk waiting for him to get back, unfortunately when he opened it it turned out that it was something else
Thank you Jim, it's a fun little camera. It is a nice bridge to whatever I decide to get next. I am intrigued with the R5c because I want to play with video now that the grand kids are getting into high school.

I talked to the Belton High School photography teacher a couple of nights ago. He told me he placed his order for an R3 last October and doesn't even know when it will be available. It is interesting Canon can introduce a new camera (R5c) for an April delivery when they can't deliver existing models. These are tough times for manufacturers. The Japanese are well known for their long term planning. I bet they are replanning the next 10 years, with lower expectations.
Yes, and I turned down two of them............. My guy is very reliable and he's telling me that my first R5c should be in my hands no later than mid-April.

Took me a few seconds to tell which hand belongs to which.. Great capture of the moment!
It's being speculated that the Blue Angels will join the Thunderbirds in the show at Dover AFB in Delaware in May. Would be neat to see them both in the same show. They did that a few years ago at the Andrews AFB but the weather/light was horrific.
