If anyone is looking for a great deal I just put my 100-400 Series II on B&S for $1300.00. It's in great condition, except for a couple of nicks on the end of the black lens barrel. The Lens hood has a scuff on it as well. Normally it would sell for $1600 +, but I reduced it in case someone would want to send it to CPS to have that black collar replaced.
100-400 II is my favorite lens...wish I could use it in the gym!
BTW Ray, I have had several more discussions with Canon about the R5c and stabilization. I love IBIS, but it has some drawbacks. This helicopter clip that I did for Children's Medical Healthcare was a bit disappointing to me, no one could explain why a perfectly smooth pan exhibited those jerks. Turns out that IBIS, by the every nature of it's technology, fights the videographer in this situation and causes the jerkiness. The R5c has a new generation of digital stabilization that eliminates that tendency while maintaining steadiness. We'll see how effective it is, but so far pre-production reviews of the system are very positive.
The more I learn about the R5c, the better I like it. The cinematic capabilities are amazing, 8K/60P RAW and 4K/120P RAW, and the camera will record accurate audio along with these high frame rates. I don't know of another cinema camera, at any price, that will do that.
Nice catch on the AN-12.
I saw it on FR24 but I was in hibernate mode. The office was closed Thursday and Friday...and I just decided to stay at the house... for 4 days
I did get a few things done, organized and cleaned up the home office room, did my taxes, and spent some quality time with my better half.
I also made another bowl on my wood lathe....I've been tinkering with this thing for several months...finally getting the hang of it...sort of... I certainly enjoy the time spent on the tool. Amazing!
That is beautiful. I haven't gotten into wood turning yet.............. The lathe has been procured but won't be set up until I get to the last phase of my shop modifications that includes building a proper woodworkers bench and lathe area. I am looking forward to that work but Rome wasn't built in a day.
Would help if I could keep the day job under 50hrs/wk too!
I went to South Florida last week to attend a trade show and got stranded, due to all the ice and snow in Texas. I also then got a job while I was in the area, but I had to wait until Saturday for the plane to get back to Florida so I could photograph it.
So with nothing else to do, I went and hung out at MIA for two days. So interesting to meet so many people from all over the world, who come to MIA to do some spotting and photography.
Here are just a few samples of the thousands of photographs I took during that time period.
Finally made it back to Texas, yesterday. I do enjoy traveling, but it was nice to sleep in my own bed last night.
I cleared out (mostly) my 12x16 shed in the backyard last year and converted it into a small shop.
A most enjoyable spot to spend some hobby time.
My bench is not a "proper" woodworking bench, but more of a general-purpose workbench.
My lathe is a Nova mini lathe...good for @ 12" pieces. I bought it second hand, lightly used great condition, Almost feel like I stole the thing since it was so cheap.
Mounted it on a flip-top table that I built. There's a compound miter saw on the bottom...gotta save space in a small shop!
I'll have to take some new pictures of my shop and post them. I am working in a 14 X 24 ft garage that's primary function is for vehicle storage; sorta what a garage is supposed to be used for. Have my 2004 Chevy 2500 Silverado Crew / Short Bed in there with a full wood shop! Jointer, planer, table saw, drum sander, big bandsaw and so on. Also have nice working/assembly tables that fold down off the walls, a nice router table that also folds down off the wall and oh ya, wiggled approximately 1500 bf of wood storage in there too!!!
When the projects start, truck goes outside and that place gets crowded and busy.
I have a couple of sad and sobering bits of news to share with you. Our long time friend Jon Berry succumbed to covid last Sunday morning. His wife Debbie contacted me this morning to tell me that Jon asked her to say hello and goodbye for him. Jon was always one of my favorite guys. I have never regretted handling the issue here the way I handled it, but I have always felt badly that it ended our friendship. Jon was passionate about his faith and I am sure that Debbie finds comfort and Peace knowing that he is enjoying the Promise that he so freely shared with the people he came in contact with.
The second thing that I wanted to share is that Jay Beckman has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has metasticized to his brain and several other places. He had surgery for the mass in his head and is beginning a regimen of radiation and chemotherapy .Jay was one of our charter members and one of the most amazing photographers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Please keep Jay in your thoughts and prayers.
News like this certainly gives one perspective, if we didn't already have it after the past few years.

Truly sad news Jim. I use to enjoy talking rock and roll trivia with Jon on FB. I left FB because I didn't have room in my life for all the bias and hate perpetuated by FB, and I miss reading Jon's post, especially when he included a post of him playing one of his many guitars.
I will pray for Jay. He use to post some really phenomenal photos in this thread.
Very sorry to hear of Jon's passing, and Jay's current medical condition.
I enjoyed my occasional PM "chats" with Jon and was sorry when he left MA2A. I suspect I know why it was necessary for that to happen, but I still missed having him here.
In my early teens we lost my grandfather to cancer. About 20 years ago it took a good friend. I wouldn't wish what Jay (and his family) is currently going through on my worst enemy.
My sentiments exactly Ken. Jon was a good friend, I liked him from the moment that I met him. Handling the final flare up on MA2A was difficult for me and I am still sad about it, but it needed to happen. Jon was a great guy, but he grew up in a tough family situation with a father that taught him to be street fighter, he had to to survive. The guy had a heart as big as all outdoors, but when he felt threatened or disrespected there was no in between, it was full scorched earth. We all have our baggage to one degree or another, my guess is that Jon left his behind on Sunday and he is enjoying the Peace that is promised to those who Trust.
