All I have been shooting are birds and sunrise the last couple days, Bill. First time to see a snowy owl outside of a zoo yesterday. He/she was very very far away, the final JPEG files are only about 1 MP, from a 50MP camera.
Just wonderful compositions Douglas! So vibrant!! The snowy owl is precious! We have 1 around here but I only hear it!
Beautiful.....need to catch a ride to Ft Carroll Light and take some pics from there. I understand access id allowable with a phone call...maybe.

Love the snowy, Douglas. I need to get out and look for them now that I have a 500mm lens. They are pretty common on the beaches around here in winter, and they love Logan Airport. They are routinely trapped and relocated from there.
Thank you Mark. Everything is pretty coated at the moment and the freezing rain is supposed to gradually change to snow in the wee hours. Fingers crossed, I don't want to be replacing my pool equipment again.
Yes, thanks Mark. We have had about 0.8" of rain and it is 34°. Our freezing will begin late tomorrow morning. Looks like I am going to have to turn the water off for a couple of days. We are stocked up with water and food so we should be OK. They are cancelling most activities tomorrow so hopefully people will stay off the roads.

Thank you Mark! I really admire folks who would walk miles on beaches in cold weather looking for snowy owls. I know people in Maryland who drove up to Connecticut to find snowy owls. We have them in Maryland/Delaware/New Jersey too but they are quite rare.
To our friends in Texas, stay warm and be careful. I love photographing ice but not the driving part.
Had a good night at our camera club yesterday. My "Storm Over Southwold" came first in the Landscape Section and "Panther Chameleon" came second in Open
The landscape was with my R5 which the owner of the Chameleon was trying so that was with the 1Dx2 I still have no idea when my R3 might arrive!

The beach landscape is wonderful, but the "Panther Chameleon" is WOW. Love it. You deserve first place!

25° and holding. We woke up to 1/4" of sleet/ice. Sleet continues to fall at a very slow rate. I will be turning off the water to the house in a couple of hours as the temps will fall below 22°.
I'm hearing rumbles that my R5c might arrive as early as next month. That would be a good thing because I just sold my Sony PXW-Z280 so I'm a bit thin in the video department.
If anyone is looking for a great deal I just put my 100-400 Series II on B&S for $1300.00. It's in great condition, except for a couple of nicks on the end of the black lens barrel. The Lens hood has a scuff on it as well. Normally it would sell for $1600 +, but I reduced it in case someone would want to send it to CPS to have that black collar replaced.
Just got notified that my RF 85/1.2 is in and will ship out to me on Monday. Really looking forward to the character that lens will bring to the table!
A client has requested some FPV footage so I've been doing a bunch of research on techniques. Because I do not have Mike Brewington's intestinal fortitude for inching ever farther out on the limb, I may be letting this assignment go by the wayside. The current king of FPV is this guy, who incidentally crashes Red cameras on his FPV drones on a regular basis. Color me impressed, but increasingly less interested in tossing my hat in the ring..............
