Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening Boys and Girls,

As promised, here is the short film I've been working on, just finished it last night. Seems to be a hit a UK producer wants to incorporate the footage into a piece he is doing for Netflix, which is kind of cool. Hope you enjoy it...........

Great video and work Jim.
Maybe black and white and some static would really look like shot sixty five years or so ago.
Keep up the great work.

After my shaggy-C46 story on page 300, I, at least, owe you a Mustang shot.

Thanks Bill! Yes, there are all kinds of treatments that could be administered to the footage. I'm still torn between video and still capture, always wishing that I could devote 100% to both, simultaneously, but you can't. The better I get at the video end, the more I can successfully split my allegiance during a shoot.

Now that I have the C47 short finished I'll start working on The Spirit of Alliance footage from AFW 2018.

Jim, really like this and had not heard that song before. It has the same kinda tune as that battle hymn song and being from S.C. like this one better. My Dad who is 88 years old and Captain Air Force JAG at Shaw in 1950’s enjoyed it, especially when they jumped out. Well done.

AIRBORNE! I learned the song a little differently, but I went through airborne school in 1964, so maybe my memory had failed me a little.

Thanks for posting this. It brought back a lot of memories. Although I never jumped a C-47, the first plane I jumped was a C-119.

p.301 #17 · Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

Spent a couple of hours in a helicopter today trying to catch the last aerials that will have some leaves and, albeit faint, green. I'm not a big fan of flying in helicopters with an unfamiliar pilot, but I learned a lesson today. My pilot was a sweet twenty something little girl, and apparently our paths had crossed before because she immediately told me a story about landing a Cub at KTKI years ago and I photographed her touching down. Bryan must have been in the tower he's always tell pilots that I was out there and to smile big and turn on all the lights they had, then I'd notice the runway/taxiway lights coming on around me. Man, just telling that story makes me sad........................anyway apparently we got a beautiful shot of Hope greasing the Cub on, made her a print and gave it to Bryan to give to her the next time she was out playing. Well here she was, about to carry my life in her hands for a couple of hours all the while looking about my Granddaughter Gracie's age. The lesson, oh yeah, it didn't take men long to realize that Hope was anticipating my every positioning need, some before I said a word. She was smooth and just all around excellent. She had not flown a list of sites as long as I had scheduled before, but she was a trooper and made my life considerably easier. It was a beautiful day in The Lone Star today, but a couple of hours of shooting with the doors off was plenty for both of us.

My help service is taking delivery of a gimbal system using an 8K Red Weapon. They want me to help them with some testing, should be fun!

p.301 #19 · Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

Long ago something a well known motivational mentor said has stuck with me, "Successful people make a habit of doing the things they do not want to do...." . I've found that to be an invaluable mantra. Yesterday began at 6 am, after a day that ended around 1am. The day began with some surface shooting, then several hours in a helicopter, followed by more surface shooting. When early evening rolled around I was worn pretty slick and had a pretty good case of give up. I dropped by home to download and back up all the day's files and the longer I sat by my Mac with my feet up, the more I intended to stay in that configuration. About 30 minutes before dusk I noticed that there were some beautiful Cirrus clouds drifting in from the west, ugh! I tried to ignore them for about 15 minutes but the thought of what those might look like as a backdrop for a project I've bee working on all week just wouldn't leave me alone...........the afore mentioned quote ran through my head and off I went. Every time I have adhered to that principle over that past 40 years I have been rewarded for doing so, last evening was no exception....................
