Spent a couple of hours in a helicopter today trying to catch the last aerials that will have some leaves and, albeit faint, green. I'm not a big fan of flying in helicopters with an unfamiliar pilot, but I learned a lesson today. My pilot was a sweet twenty something little girl, and apparently our paths had crossed before because she immediately told me a story about landing a Cub at KTKI years ago and I photographed her touching down. Bryan must have been in the tower he's always tell pilots that I was out there and to smile big and turn on all the lights they had, then I'd notice the runway/taxiway lights coming on around me. Man, just telling that story makes me sad........................anyway apparently we got a beautiful shot of Hope greasing the Cub on, made her a print and gave it to Bryan to give to her the next time she was out playing. Well here she was, about to carry my life in her hands for a couple of hours all the while looking about my Granddaughter Gracie's age. The lesson, oh yeah, it didn't take men long to realize that Hope was anticipating my every positioning need, some before I said a word. She was smooth and just all around excellent. She had not flown a list of sites as long as I had scheduled before, but she was a trooper and made my life considerably easier. It was a beautiful day in The Lone Star today, but a couple of hours of shooting with the doors off was plenty for both of us.
My help service is taking delivery of a gimbal system using an 8K Red Weapon. They want me to help them with some testing, should be fun! ...Show more →
You see it's a small world , about the sad part you always have the memories
Had the opportunity to photograph this Cessna Citation Bravo this week, I for one, am enjoying the cooler temperatures now that fall weather is approaching the furnace known as the DFW area.

Jan-Arie,
I think you are a tad ahead of good ole mohawk Glenn with that last picture, dang that is beautiful and sharp.
Print that out on metallic and huge !
But thank you Bill missed that post somehow
I don't print much I live in a apartment I have some on the wall including a nice B25 shot by Zim.
But I have to look in to see if there is a business over here that does metallic printing.
Have to try that shot again I think the wheels are a bit cooked but I'm new with the software that tip I had from Jim..
For several years now I find myself having to look at the camera data on some images to determine whether I took the shot or Chandler did. I kind of like that Tell you what though, if it doesn't have wings and a long shock cone, Chili's interest drops off a cliff. Can't blame him, especially at his age. Gracie is a different story, she just loves to shoot, doesn't matter what the subject is, landscape, the wedding we just shot together, a farmer's market, she loves it all. I guess that's one of the great things about imaging, everyone is drawn to something different. Heck, I got excited about the results from last evening's warehouse shoot, after 40 years and literally hundreds of tilt wall building assignments, kind of made me realize that I still just love every aspect of this craft.
Saturday P-51D Pecos Bill crashed in a Fredericksburg apartment parking lot killing the pilot Cowden Ward Jr. and a passenger who was a WWII B-17 pilot.
Thinking of dad today we weren't always the best of friends but hey.
Already 10 years since he passed time fly's at lightning speed.
Have to try and settle down a bit but work is hectic a colleague got struck by a tia this week so that part has also have to be taken care of so shifting work for two sometimes and another one resigned and goes to a client so the atmosphere is not getting any better at the moment .
But life insn't always a party...
From the trip that I took with dad in 2005 Mount Rainier National park..
Good advice Jan Arie. You take care of yourself as well. Please give my best to your Mom, wishing you both peace and health during the holidays and beyond.
Last Saturday was rough.
Dawn and were in Fredericksburg to attend a concert at Lukenbach. We arrived before our room was ready and really didn't feel like walking the main street with the huge gaggle of tourists, been there done that. So I drove to the airport to have a look at the hangar hotel on the field.
I saw Cowden Ward's P-51, "Pecos Bill" parked on the ramp. He was there to fly a WWII vet in the mustang and fly over the Nimitz Museum's Pacific War reenactment going on in town.
I was surprised to see Cowden and he was surprised to see us. We talked for a bit and he introduced me to his passenger, Vincent Lasoda. Mr Lasoda was a B-17 bombardier in WWII, he lost an arm on his 25th mission. Cowden said "I'm glad you're here, I'm going to need help getting Mr Lasoda in the airplane"
I helped to put them in the airplane and sent them on their way.
About half an hour later the guy from the FBO came out and said they got a report that the airplane went down over town.
We now know that neither of them survived.
It's hard to wrap my head around that I was the last one to talk with them. We watched them depart, never to return.....may God bless them.
It was a Bad day.
I wanted to share some photos from Saturday....it hurts my heart to think about, but I feel like I need to share it.
Praying for these men, their families and friends and the warbird community as a whole.
Before the week gets away from me (too late), I want to take a minute to wish everyone a Blessed and Peace-Filled Thanksgiving. Safe travel if you are on the road and if you're just kicking back at home, have a wonderful rest of your week. we have 18 people converging on our house starting this evening so the list of "honey Do's" is , well about average for this time of year. I am going to try to find a day to spend at HQ because it seems like I haven't seen it in months.
Much to be thankful for, as always, but at the forefront at this moment is God's Providence for Chandler's Sweetheart. Jillian hit a pothole in the dark a few nights ago getting on Hwy 75 to go home, blew a tire and rolled her little car three times. She ended up hanging from her seat belts, tried to get out the door but the frame was so damaged that none would ope so she crawled out through a space normally occupied by her windshield. Cuts, bruises, broken hand and very traumatized, but she'll be ok and we are all very thankful, it could well have been so much worse. We have been there, and are very thankful that we aren't there again.
