I'm slowly extending my radius for walking exercise. Taking the gear along is part of the deal. Our local countryside is not especially inviting, but occasionally the light is nice ....
I don't know how the transportation is going to be right now, just saying if they DO fly it out of here, I will be there to see it. And, we'll have two B-17s here afterwards, Swoose and Memphis Belle. Then again, if they brought in the Guppy to transport Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby in pieces, that's also worth seeing in the air!
I doubt very seriously if it will fly. I asked one of the guys at the restoration hangar at Dayton if they would taxi the Belle over to the museum as it would be an incredible photo op and he said absolutely not. Once it's ready for display the fuel tanks must be purged and cleaned and oil out. Makes sense.
I think you were quoting me on this. I was talking about the move of Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby, which is going to its new home at the Smithsonian, and a wish for it to fly out under its own power.
Memphis Belle and Swoose will get tugged, just like all the other aircraft that moved from the Presidential and R&D Galleries on the secure side of base, to the public access museum side. Now whether those events will be publicized or not is a question still not answered, yet.

I took my two grandsons to the Coolidge Municipal Airport (P08) at zero-dark-thirty Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised to find that German Special Operations Soldiers (KSK) were training in the pre-dawn light. A much needed rain shower had just moved through the area and the "clean" air was a refreshing respite from the normal winter smog we often get in central AZ. The KSK folks had two Skyvans working overtime and their pilots made some nifty approaches to pick-up the next load of operators. I shot this with my newly acquired Sony a6500 with the Zeiss Vario‑Tessar T* E 16‑70mm F4 ZA OSS lens. While I purchased this rig as my "conceal-carry" grandkids camera, it does a more than acceptable job on non-grandkid compositions
IAR has a facility at P08. Here are a couple of the C-130 cadavers they have in their yard. My grandsons want me to purchase one as playground equipment for my backyard
Super job, James. You've prompted me to take another look at my own RIAT "available darkness images". The Finnish Hawk team was practically invisible - webesee.

Any C130 prop blades laying around there? I'm searching for a couple of substantial blades to go on each side of the door to HQ. Looking for B25 blades ideally, but may have to use something else.

Good Evening Jim:
The short answer is yes. They have nearly a dozen 4-blade prop sets in their yard. Some are C-130, but I believe most are the type used on DC-7 engines. They have an old DC-7 at this location as well.
At last count, they had seven of these on top of their storage containers and 3 or 4 larger prop sets at various locations in their yard.

Well .... I had a look..... and the passage of time has not improved things....

Cool! Wonder what they'd sell a couple of blades for?
That is easy enough for me to find out. I'll be down that way later this week. I'll stop by their office and inquire. Of course, besides inquiring about the blades, my grandsons will insist I also ask about the price for one of the 130 cadavers. Like their Papa, they love those old airframes
That would make a really cool clubhouse for the grandkids! :-) The local exibition center has taken delivery of a KC-97 tanker that they are going to convert into a restaurant.

Erich
Right you are Erich, my two grandson's love these C-130 cadavers...
A nice President's Day treat for my grandkids. I call this composition "Ladies First". A very gentlemanly Cessna 172 waits patiently on the taxiway as a robust Russian girl saunters by on her way to the cargo ramp at Willy. Someone bought a bunch of big boy toys (i.e. Boeing AH-6 Little Birds) and needed more than FedEx to handle the pick-up and delivery.

Does Apple Dumpling bridge still exist? It's right next to the site of the old Grange RNAS station (where the Gosport School of Special Flying was based in the Great War, and where the 'Gosport Tube' was invented). It was also right by 'Dead Man's Hollow' I used to walk there a lot with my father when I was about 10-12 yrs old!!
