Thank you Dan! I did go to watch the flyover in DC last evening. I was at the Navy Merchant Marine Memorial on the south side of the Potomac River. Very good location with clear view, the big drawback is even for 800mm, the fighter jets appeared pretty small. The problem with shooting from the north side of the river closer to the "show center" is you will be pretty much shooting up in their bellies.
The B-2 flew as a single ship, then flew with 4 F-35As, The F-35s flew twice, the F-16s just once. I will be going back there again this afternoon for the flyover this evening. Will work on the pix tomorrow.

I am tempted to quote Top Gun #1 re: "flying rubber dog "XhIx" out of Hong Kong ........" though, because those pilots are cooked. The FAA had that 30 minutes after that took place and they ain't going to look past it.

That's one of the most memorable scripts in Top Gun, along with "I feel the need, the need for speed", and "I was inverted". I don't think they can make a movie like Top Gun anymore with all the PC crap going on. Can you imagine a naval aviator following a girl to the lady's room?
I didn't go to DC to watch today's flyover. I thought it was in the evening like yesterday, they actually flew around noon time. The flyover lineup on July 4th is huge. I heard they will have a rehearsal on the 3rd but not sure how they can do it with such a massive lineup.
From last night, the 2nd picture is the uncropped frame of the first one, you can see how far i was away from the jets flying from west to east.

Ok, since the cat is way out of the bag, here is the real story. The plane went to Horseshoe Bay because a significant investor lives there and he wanted to see the aircraft. The 777 was coming back to Perot Field for me to photograph it. Horseshoe Bay was just a little detour to show the airplane off. The crew got a bit carried away with the low approach (read: a series of career ending decisions” , then flew the aircraft to Perot Field where Chandler and I were geared up and waiting to capture its arrival.
I feel bad about the whole thing because the crew and I worked well together and they bent over backward to make sure that we were able to captured beautiful images.
Personally, I find it difficult to believe that three career professionals thought that little air show was a good idea. That is a prototype aircraft worth hundreds of millions of dollars with hundreds of thousands of man hours invested, . The hopes and dreams of countless companies and investors hinge on that great aircraft demonstrating its capabilities to the freight world. That, of course, doesn’t begin to consider the loss of life and horrific consequences if that low pass had somehow dipped just a few feet lower.
Fortunately, it did not so the consequences will remain three great careers ruined and the ire of all the corporate entities involved.
So, as Paul Harvey used to say, is the rest of the story. My guess is, those pilots will be fortunate if they ever find themselves hauling rubber stuff out of Hong Kong. The NTSB has an acronym for a thing like this…”NAFD”.. No Apparent Fear of Death.
There is a guy out there who posted an analysis of the fly by and he used multiple still images and videos that I hold the copyright to. We are not sure how he got a hold of those images, but we know that he does not have the right to use them. JR is looking into it as we speak.
Man, the unbelievably poor judgment of three supposedly professional airmen has turned into a quagmire of major proportions. I'm sure it will die down, these days the news cycle is about 5 minutes, but it sure has put a lot of people out of sorts. If they were looking for their 5 minutes of fame, they got it in spades, but a 777 pilot makes between $250-$550K, their Youtube royalties aren't going to cover that.

This reminds me of Tex Johnston's 1955 barrel rolling the test plane that became the Boeing 707 above the International Transport Association attending Seattle's Seafair Gold Cup hydroplane races. When asked what he thought he was doing, his famous response was "I was selling airplanes."
Just spec'd out a new MacBook Pro. The price of memory forced them to raise prices, thew 16" model with 8TB of storage is $8,000. This chip thing has really gotten out of control.

I priced out a new PC and the price rose $2500 from last Fall. The "chips" prices were outrageous!

I understand the need for equality@tariffs but this is ridiculous!!!!
