Looks like I'm going to shoot "Wings Over Houston" with my Buddy Kevin Hong in late October. Should have my C400 by that time, but the video from the R5 II is so good, it's not critical.
I did my first actual commercial assignment with the "II's" yesterday. The shoot was rapid fire, drone, stills, lot's of moving parts along with executive groupings with the construction site and panel raising in the background. I began going through all the shots this morning and I realized how much of it I shot from the hip and just by instinct, it's all a blur. Fortunately, the images are beautiful and the client is going to love them. I put an RF24-70/2.8 on one camera and my trusted RF100-500 on the other and just blasted away. The sharpness and saturation is "next level" as they say. I love the feeling you get when you make equipment decisions and put the gear to work and it all fits. Yesterday my R5 II cameras made a very challenging and fast paced morning a success, and of course the MAVIC 3 did a superb job in the air.
Today, September 11, 2024 sort of got lost by me for some reason. This day in 23 years ago was NOT a good day for America or the Free World!
Here are a few reminders of that day from the Pentagon 9-11-2011........
Air Force Lt. Col. Rolando Aguilar, F-16 pilot that escorted AF1 across the US
The 911 stuff always brings me back to what life could be with a giant interruption. Similar but way different than Covid. Not a good life, and people need to appreciate what is like without those events. We don't need those life altering periods of time and that includes school and mall shootings.
And the Concorde flying anywhere was a sight to see. A pleasant one.
