Douglas,
respectfully, why does this type of post have to be injected into this thread? Let's keep the eye on the images we share and keep the politics and intolerance to ourselves.

I apologize. In the age where some think men can get pregnant, i should keep such opinion to myself. It served no purpose to post it in this thread, I am sorry. This weekend will come the goodies.

The Insta360x4 kit arrived today and I'm digging into it prior to my first assignment. Looks promising!

Interesting to see this. I still can't part with my 1984 Olympic F1N kit I bought new. Big investment back then.

Bill,
I picked up an A1 with motor drive earlier this year as I had been obsessed with the camera during my high school/college years. Amazing how these old cameras feel in hand after all these years.

My Father in Law was my first camera mentor. When I bought my first 35 mm SLR I asked him which camera/brand to buy. He said tell the guy your price range and have him set them all on the counter with the lens to let you hold them. Then he said to pick up each camera and bring it to your eye, and do this over and over until you find the one you like. I settled for the Canon AE1. Couldn't afford the A1.

Nice one Gero-
Can't beat a real camera from days long gone that feels solid in your hands.
A nice lens to go with it.
.
I borrowed my sisters Pentax K-1000 and used my moms Pentax-ME for a bit, been hooked ever since.

Ray,
to this day, I remember the ads for the A1, and how much I lusted after that camera as a teenager/college student. So nice to have something solid like this in my hands again. The story behind this one is that I bought the motor drive on eBay from a guy in Japan, and it didn't work with the AE-1 that I still had which had been given to me by my father. So I looked around and found the A1 body as it was easier than trying to return the motor drive to Japan... Go figure

Will do Bill,

Although, It's really an entirely different animal. My plan is to put therm to work together, we'll see. The Insta360x4 is about a grand all set to go, where the GoPro's are a lot less than that. I think that they will play well together.

I know just what you guys are talking about. The one that I used to drool over in the case at the camera store was the Miranda Sensorex. Finally saved up enough from pumping .19 gas at the local Shell station to go plunk down cash for it. My next one was a Minolta SRT101 with a 50mm/ 1.2, that was sophomore year in college. I was running the camera department at Katz Discount City in Quincy Illinois, didn't have two nickels to rub together. Little did I know, I was investing in my future.

My first camera was a Yashica, then around 1986 i had a friend in Macau smuggle an AE1 to China for me because the price in china was probably triple if i could even find one to buy. when my daughter took photography class in high school about 13 years ago, she was required to have a film camera so they could learn how to develop film. I bought her an AE1 from eBay, I still have it. now i have two A1, but they are Sony.
