I have an office in a hangar across from HQ and that's where I set up for portraits and product shots if I need to. This is one of my favorites from the evening...........

Been scrambling and night before last I received a panic call from my daughter. Seems that they had procrastinated as long as they could on Faith's senior portrait, and time was up. You know that old saying about lack of planning on your part doesn't mean an emergency on mine? Well that doesn't hold true fro Grandchildren, ...........or clients, or wives.....or children for that matter..........well it just isn't true I guess
So, I put my thinking cap on to come up with a sure fire location because there was going to be no room for error, no scouting, no redo's. A quick phone call to a dear friend and client opened the gate to his "Circle T Ranch" for us, and the weather/light cooperated beautifully last evening. There are no bad angles on the ranch, or on Faith for that matter.................Show more →
Yes a beautiful young woman! Expertly composed and shot JIm!
You did her proud!
Mom and dad have a "body guard" for this beauty? She have a carry permit? Oh that's right, Texas one can carry! My kind of State!
Dad and mom vetting her "callers"?

They might get by Mom & Dad, but Papa is the toughest hurdle.............
I could have shot until the cows came home. The Circle T is so beautiful, everywhere one looks is a beautiful composition and it's maintained to perfection. I'm headed back there Saturday morning to shoot Ross's Memorial Day Picnic, 2000 attendees including around 500 VIP's. They'll start cooking the BBQ on Friday. We'll have an impromptu air show at some point in the afternoon.

Yes I have one also Jim! Mom and dad are too "yuppy" for my likes. "Gee-pop" handles the dating vetting! I sit on the front porch with a baseball bat and if the gentleman is 1 minute past her deadline! They don't call it the "Louisville" Slugger" just for baseball!
Just got my line up for Saturday, a P51, a Bearcat, a PC-7, and a Thunderbird schemed Gamebird..........plus all the Circle T Ranch BBQ one can consume............ Just. little Memorial Day Picnic with a couple thousand of our closest friends.

Douglas,
first off, yet another outstanding series. I'm glad you got the F-15 from all those angles. As cool and capable as all the new-gen aircraft are, there is a small set that are older who just look more impressive. The F-4 and the F-15 are two such aircraft. Very cool stuff here.

Thank you very much gentlemen! Jim, beautiful pictures of a beautiful Texas girl!
Some shots of the rehearsal from the Naval Academy on Tuesday. I went to see the real deal on Wednesday too but one of the four ships was missing. This was likely the last time I got to see the BA this season. But I heard the Thunderbirds will be joining them in the homecoming show in Pensacola in November.

Fantastic shots Douglas. Where were you? USMC Stadium In Edgewater at Carroll Creek Inn?
I will be at a special ceremony for Vietnam Vets on Sunday evening and Monday morning at Arlington Ntl Cemetery. I have an extra invitation!?
Again Fantastic images all!
Dan
In case anyone doesn't know, yesterday on Amazon Prime the Blue Angels Documentary was released. About 1.5hrs, a lot of the behind the scenes talk, some of where the members came from, tidbits of info (Fat Albert supply side is all Marines... Only one Marine pilot can be a Blue Angel pilot, etc), and some great aerial video on the formation and performance, especially at the end when they get to the Yankee tight delta...
Douglas... in your last post, what happened to #3 in the shot of with just #1, #2, and #4...?
BTW, for some, #4 is Amanda Lee, first female pilot to make the team and the delta...

PS Suzanne sez "WOW!!!!!
Thank you Dan! I won't have time to go to Arlington this year to shoot the head stones with the flags, will be travelling to Denver tomorrow. Most of the BA shots I posted in the last two days were taken from Forrest Sherman Field on the campus on Tuesday (rehearsal) and Wednesday. One or two might have been taken from the bridge on King George St. when they arrived and did the survey and circling before the rehearsal. I was on that bridge before I went inside the campus to watch the rehearsal. The reason I was on that bridge was I took this shot I am posting on the same bridge in 2021 when the campus was closed due to the Xi Virus. I didn't see them at this angle this time. I have never seen them in this angle within the airshow spectator areas in all the BA shows I have gone to so i was hoping I would get the same shot from the bridge but no luck this time.

I am guessing there might have been mechanical issues with the other jet. Not the first time I see a jet missing.
I thought I saw my last BA show this season at the Academy on Wed, famous last word. They are performing at Jones Beach this weekend, alone with the F-35C, the A-10 (the last show season). The BA practiced over Jones Beach yesterday, I didn't think they would practice again today because they had to do the flyover at the Naval Academy commencement today. I wasn't going to drive 500 miles around trip and pay $100 in tolls just to see the F-35C and the A-10 practice, then last night an airshow buddy sent me the rehearsal schedule for today, the BA was on it and I was told the A-10 would be popping flares, which would be new to me. So I decided to drive up, got stuck in the traffic for an hour north of Baltimore due to constructions. I missed the F-35C rehearsal by the time I got there. Going home from Long Island was a b.tch, wasted 2.5 hours in traffic in NY, then hit the road constructions again the Delaware and Maryland. I left Jones beach at about 3:10, got home at 10, for 250 miles.
The BA is always a treat to watch but 3 times in a week seem a bit excessive. , especially with all the traffic and tolls! I think I am really done with the BA this year. Can't complain after having seen them 4 time this month, plus the IMAX movie! Too tired to look at the pictures from today. Hope I got some good ones of the A-10 popping flares.
