Phillipe,

I generally don't like the white "washed-out" type(as you can see I am very enjoying night photos).

...but those are niZ!

Thanks Raboof.

I love the effect that the panorama in this one gives. Nice!

This was from a few weeks ago – a cold drizzle had started, and I was a little worried about getting out of the woods before dark.

This evening I scouted locations for winter sunsets. I found a nice spot, complete with flocks of Canada geese, so now I just need a more interesting sunset.

Brendan and Zichar – very nice!

A mishmash from me. Desk lamp abstract:

Dragged my butt out of bed and found a good sunrise location. Yep, we are on the Dulles flight path

And then made an omelet with chipotle, garlic, oregano, and feta

+1
I keep looking at the burning suitcase pic, trying to imagine the story

A lovely package arrived this evening – a used Nikon 35mm f/1.8G. This should complete my lens collection for now – two slow VR zooms, and two fast primes. Of course I had to take some pictures . . .

Another old dog, ISO 1600, f/2, and 1/60. I have read complaints about bokeh on this lens, but it looks good so far.

Two samples to show the performance of the TC20EIII with the old 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-S (becoming a 160-400mm f/5.6 with clearly faster AF than the 80-400mm VR):

Sayaca Tanager dorsal view

Sayaca Tanager dorsal view by labecoaves, on Flickr

Nikon D3, 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-S + TC20EIII @ 400 mm, ISO 320, 1/800 sec, f9, handheld.

Sayaca Tanager side with sunlight

Sayaca Tanager side with sunlight by labecoaves, on Flickr

Nikon D3, 80-200mm f/2.8 AF-S + TC20EIII @ 330 mm, ISO 400, 1/200 sec, f8, handheld.
This new TC works well with old 80-200mm af-s, at least for short distances.

At least for short distances (< 20m ) and for "stalking" wildlife, it appears this new TC works well with the 80-200mm af-s.

And for not to "betray" my lens lust for old Nikkor MF, this is a "portrait" of the same bird species with the 800mm f/5.6 AI-S EDIF:

Sayaca Tanager "portrait" with a 800mm. by labecoaves, on Flickr

Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 EDIF, at 7.7m.
With D7000 an effective 1200mm.
Note the thin DOF even at f/11; no crop.ISO 1250, 1/60s, fill flash at 1/8 power.

Zichar, the flames were legitimate! They were pretty well controlled on the suitcase, but got a little out of hand at one point. My sister is brave lol.

Pretty easy for me as they are also my only ones. Took the D3 out for the first time tonight.
