This thread is like the ones that slip 'accidentally' onto a manufacturer's website, then are deleted after enough people jump on the rumour mill and say "Psst, did you hear about the new Nikonon D2sMk1V on the website??"
Looks like we all love a good speculation/rumor/gossip thread!
Looks like quite a feasible lineup except for that 35 F1.8 whats that all about??

How do you know the original poster did not delete it? Did Tim tell you he didn't? Too much conspiracy thinking going on.
Keep in mind, Fred is not beholding to Canon for anything. He gets no ad revenue from them and he's never been known to be a preview reviewer for them (i.e., he has no NDA to worry about).
Fred is in no-one's pocket, but him, Phil and Dave are all pretty tired of being scooped by leaks.
I think that is why he may have pulled it.
The other possibility is that the OP did after pressure from Canon or his source - Canon can get heavy.

What's wrong with a pop-up flash? I know it's not any good for anything professional, but having it there (especially if it can be made to fire flashes wirelessly) could seem a benefit if no other flash was available (such as if one lost power/died).
The main argument against pop-up flashes is the difficulty in weatherproofing the assembly. Especially bearing in mind the high voltage and ampage (current) involved.
If water gets in then the whole camera could be fried.
Upon further reflection, the original post had a ring of authenticity to it in that the "new" camera and lenses divulged did not sound the usual bizarre but merely "unlikely".
Reminds me of the first time a "leak" on the 85L II surfaced......my reaction was "Yeah, as much chance as an ice cream in hell".
Guys, the thread I am talking about is not the same thread you are talking about. The thread I am talking about was in the buy/sell forum and I understand and appreciate why Jeff hid it. He was doing his job as a moderator.

I posted in the original thread, and was surprised to see it gone the next morning. I sent a PM to the OP asking if he knew what happened, but to date I have not received a response.
Like many people here, I take these rumor threads with a grain of salt. However, the rumor that was posted seemed more credible than most. Perhaps it was wording, perhaps it was the fact that the OP is a respected member, or perhaps it is the fact that it seemed somewhat reasonable. YMMV
The fact that the OP has not posted in this thread, and the fact that a moderator did not delete the original suggest two things:
1) The OP posted the info before getting the OK from his source (which was briefly mentioned in the original thread)
2) It was all a big joke, and the OP is having a good laugh.
Either way, at least it killed some time while we wait for an official announcement....time we could have spent taking pictures!

Unfortunately I just bought my 100-400. I've always thought that the lens was too slow at 4.5-5.6 so I'd be excited about the f/4 version. If this rumor is true, and the price of the new lens is reasonable, I wonder how much the value of the original 100-400 is going to plummet.
a 100-400 f4 would be expensive not to mention heavy. the 200-400 nikon is 4k and not light
azpatrick2000...as the original poster of the thread has come forward and admitted to deleting it, I think you owe Jeff a BIG apology for twice now essentially saying he lied.
He said he hadn't seen the thread, yet you insisted he hid it. Trying to say it was a "different" thread on another board (that he doesn't even moderate) is just a smoke screen. Since you've called him out publicly, it should only be right that you publicly apologize.
Hey, listen, I swore off chasing shorebird migration this weekend because I have to get some work done, and if I had the images I couldn't stop myself from processing them.
Of course the work I'm supposed to do is on my computer, and absent images to process, how's a guy to procrastinate on the computer except surfing for new camera rumors? So Tim, thanks, for providing a great rumor, which sounded plausible when you posted it, and then got even more plausible when you deleted it.
Taz, I don't know you but I do regret ever getting involved in this thread. Obviously I did not communicate my point very well.
Also I did praise Jeff for 'watching over me' in this case. I didn't know why the thread was deleted and I thought someone owed an explanation, then I got Jeff's PM.
Jeff I hope you don't shoot me for posting this but it NEEDED to be cleared up.

Perhaps there is some of way of preventing an OP from deleting a thread if there have been any responses?
EB
This is the only forum i've been a part of that allows that. But i can't say i dislike it. A lot of problems have been avoided...or at least forgotten...because of this feature.
