It's surprising they still list version 0.2 on their page, even though the one sent to @Jonas B (which he kindly shared here) is a big improvement and almost perfect for my needs. It completely fixed the AF issues I had with the previous firmware.

That's the version I am using as well and I was really hoping that they would have something official with even more improvements. Oh well, until then, this will do.

Btw, I've found the Sigma rear lens caps for Sony e-mount to work better than the official sony ones, and the TTA ones.
There isn't much of a twist but it doesn't wiggle and fall off straight after picking it up.
It's the same for their 75mm f2.
So it is. Every third party rear lens cap I've tried is better than the ones Sony ship with their lenses. The Sony ones are also hardest to clean if necessary.
I think I read somewhere that there were two models for Sony rear lens cap, the one I've been getting is the ALC-R1EM.
Max 2 per customer (per month from what I've seen), from Amazon UK at least.
I've been getting the Sony ones for all the lenses to make it a bit more interchangeable and one less thing to worry about - started to do it with the front lens caps from sigma too for the CV glass and the ones more difficult to replace.
I've found the Sony one to be really good, very easy to put on, really good grip, strong plastic.
I do prefer the Sony to the Sigma, including on Sigma's own lenses!
Something about the way it goes on, feels easy and smooth but secure, get an audible confirmation when twisted fully.... whereas the sigma kind of just screws in a tiny bit and the resistance gets tough (might be more resistant to unscrewing from gentle friction but less to nudges).
I haven't done any testing bumping the lenses around with the two different rear caps, but the sigma works with the TTA at least.
I got that haoge brush to help with dust cleaning (not on the sensor but all this tight space stuff) together with the trusty rocket blower, haven't had any trouble.
I just had an issue with both TTA lenses I have. Cap falls off too often when I go to pick it up, not even in a bag. TTA's official caps have the USB on there so wanted to be particularly careful with those... and they're not a great fit either, loose and wobbly...on their own lenses!
I do like both the 40mm and 75mm f2 lenses themselves, for my purposes (casual).
I actually think the 40mm f2 on the a7cII/r is such a great combo. Really good size as well for carrying freely with a small bag.
I get the impression that it's a cleaner image than the samyangs (for the parts in-focus). Both the 40mmf2 vs 45mmf1.8 and the 75mmf2 vs 75mmf1.8.
But I do like them all and haven't shot enough with them to make a concrete decision.
I wish TTA's materials and build quality was a bit higher though. And a little tiny bit smoother bokeh, but I won't complain much for the size (and price).

There may be more than two "original" rear lens caps. The Nex APS-C cameras came first and then the lens caps were marked NEX. Then it was Sony. I'm sure the caps are made at several places. I also think it's hard to design a worse lens cap.
Well, the 40mm TTA is nice. I don't complain about the material for the price. Nice bokeh or any other optical feature not demanding extra expensive glass qualities should be included no matter the price. Yes, I like the TTA40 and it's not too small when used together with a larger camera either.
I haven't tried the TTA75 as I went with the Viltrox EVO 85 instead.
I like these small cheap lenses. As many, if not all, Sony lenses are made in China or Vietnam or some other low-cost country I hope the chinese producers can push the Sony's prices down.
I reached out to TTartisan on a Lens profile for lightroom and they indicated they have nothing in the works. My last step I would like to try is turning on in-camera corrections on my A7C to see if it affects the raw files. Lovely little lens, I just need to figure out a solution for vignette. (Usually I love it, just that it's a bit strong on this lens)
^ I was checking the lightroom update since they mentioned adding new lense profiles and was dissappointed with what they added but it did mention something about adding your own there with a guide but I haven't looked at it in much detail.
I'm curious about distortion in general, it would need stronger correction at closer distance?

Is there something in particular you don't like about the Sony rear lens cap - are you finding them coming off lenses often?
What's your go-to for the rear?
Hopefully with the Sony prices, most of my lenses are third party although it's less about the price as I'm okay going with imported/used lenses from Sony which can make a big difference on some lenses -- I'm holding off with the 24-50 f2.8 that we talked about still. Maybe with a deal, it's gonna be big and I'm looking for smaller and smaller but if you need a zoom then you need a zoom.
Having said that, I'm not seeing many third party offer weather sealing that would give peace of mind, and possibly still an auto-focus advantage (thinking of the 40mm f2.5 as I type this).

Did you read the list by RoamingScott here page 14 post 13? If you have the "hard vignette" you may be interested in having the lens exchanged.

Yes I did. To my knowledge that was a Nikon Z issue. I'm on E. Its correctable, but I just need a profile that has the correct Vignette shape.

I got a good rear cap from Tamron. The Sirui is also good, so are some other ones. Yes, the "Sony" caps comes off too easy.
Do you often use the camera in rain and find no other way to handle it but to soak it?
I use my gear in the rain when needed but I almost never have to let it stay in heavy rain for long periods. My bag can take quite some rain.
This far no lens has broken down. To me that's, more or less, not an issue. I realize other folks need weather shielding way more than I do. Yes.. the 40G. I actually have a Zeiss UV-filter on it to protect it from industrial dirt, water drops, water spray when at the harbour or at the beach. Prepped... but i still don't worry too much about a cheap TTArtisan.
I got the 24-50. it's very convenient. A little on the slow side. It works great though (and it is weather shielded ;-)). That is this far - I haven't learned the lens yet.

Ah, maybe it was on the Z only. Thank you.
Then your vignetting is heavy but still "normal". Maybe the profile creator Yogifi linked to can help.
Even in light rain I don't love the idea with humidity and condensing then going into the internals after while resting with the lens standing. Before I know it, fungus on my CV lens that then infects the rest.
Been thinking about something HappyDan mentioned in the simera threads, like a band on where they mount. Doesn't help with all of it, but keeping it in mind.
If I have to replace all these sony rear mounts with sigma, uggh. At least I kept the boxes. I think it's only come off once with Sony iirc. Usually nothing else in the bag anyway, and separated with divider.
... I was just sanding a sigma front lens cap after testing if it leaves a mark on the lens filter protector with some ink and paper ... I need a holiday. It was a bit raised on one plastic knub though And it goes inner further than the voigtlander front lens caps, so that raised plastic bit was touching the filter glass, with the coatings etc.
actually the other one from sigma has the same exact issue on the front cap, one knub raised. It's where the curved plastic is joined together, there's a seam mark there and then excess hard plastic on-top.

I don't think a lens with internal fungus infect fellow lens friends. Isn't that a myth only?

Hard vignette is not correctable, and as I pointed out, there were E shooters posting reviews on Youtube that had it as well. I'm basically the subject matter expert on this at this point

Is there a hard edge to it? I couldn't find an example.
I don't think I have any hard edges on my e-mount version. There is vignetting but I figured normal with the size and aperture. Although I've seen it in the sky at f8 too, I'll shoot the sky throughout the range at some point and check.

Don't see why it couldn't transfer, it's all microscopic spores going through the air. Don't know the odds but I'd think it's a possibility. When I get a used lens I usually keep it separately until I've had a good chance to hit it with sunlight for a while.
Switching lenses takes time as it is, I don't need a fiddly front lens cap on top of that. I don't use them.
Can't blame you. I usually leave it off while in use but I have the protector filters on both just in case.
