Re: Fujifilm X-E5 and XF23mm f/2.8 Preorders at 6:00 AM (EST)

I preordered two, one in silver and one in black, and will cancel one of them once I figure out what color I want. I figure it could take a while for orders to be fulfilled.

I have been looking to upgrade my XT4 and I think this is a good fit for street and travel photography, which I mostly do now. I am disappointed in the EVF, but we'll see what happens. I wish they had at least incorporated the EVF from the XPro3.

It seems that Fuji is banking on film simulations and product design as making up for the smaller sensor and the below average EVF. If the price isn't moving units, they'll lower it.

I think people who are looking at investing in the Fuji ecosystem don't see the price as too high. They see it as roughly in line with what other compact interchangeable lens rangefinders cost. They probably don't care that there's only one card slot and it's not weather sealed.

My theory is that entry level (XM) and flagship (XH) models will remain roughly at the same prices they are now, whereas mid-range models (XE, XS, XT) will go up in price over time. Especially for the US models. Without tariffs I suspect the XE5 would have been $1399.

Especially for the US models. As you can see the UK models are 1299 pounds. Without tariffs the XE5 probably would have been announced at 1399.
