p.16 #1 · A Leica M camera with an EVF is expected by the end of 2025

I recall a trip with Phil Penman in NYC one day in a gentle but steady rain all day long. I only had my M's with me and he said to watch out because if you let too much water onto the camera it will eventually stop functioning and the lost funds and lost time after failure you will deeply regret your actions.

So I asked what does he do in order to shoot in the rain? He said he uses an SL body in the rain.

Of course, if you're shooting adapted M lenses ... you're still at precision machining as your means of ingress protection. Although, you now have TWO ingress points. The other areas of the body are rated, and in companion with the right lenses, the rating is valid. Gordon has advocated strongly (other threads) for the SL being vastly impervious to the elements more robustly than many others.

I think one has to recognize the difference in minimal vs. moderate vs. extreme (or extensive / repeatedly) ... in the realm of risk(s) encountered.

Like I said out all day in the rain. Protection is obviously needed. We walked over 40,000 steps that day and then I stopped counting steps on my phone. Then there also is the chance of splashes by passerby-vehicles. bicycles, motorcycles, people, etc.

Keep in mind I dropped my SL3 in the CO river with Panasonic 28-200 lens on it and it had NO water damage after being dunked 2 times into the river with heavy silt on that occasion.

Who's Gordon?

Gordon has the FM screen name flash. I always appreciate his perspective even when I don't share his opinions.

I would seriously consider trading my SL2-S for this and maybe picking up a pany for AF work.
