I think I'll give up on making USB3 2x2 reader work (tried two). It seems that the connection is established at 20 gbps but for some reason I'm not seeing any speed increase. So, I'll have to settle for 935/880 MB/s reads/writes for now . Next step - USB4, once I upgrade my pc / laptops...

OWC card and reader are now back on sales (in Canada but it seems also elsewhere). I already have 2 gen 3 cards 260GB Pergear cards. They have been super reliable for me. They are however, a bit small if I do not offload at the end of the day on 2 days shoot.
I know I won't be getting a faster save or bigger buffer on my A1ii, but I think that the offload to the PC with a new reader would be interesting. Is this a good buy? Will I really see a improvement in the download speed?

Just a heads up on OWC cards.
I purchased one from BHPhoto and shortly after purchase, received an email from them informing me that the card requires a firmware update. OWC told me that there's a chance that the card may freeze without this update. In order to apply the update, you must have an OWC card reader (which does not come with the card). OWC offered me a 50% discount on one of their more expensive card readers that only reads CFe-A cards, it does not read SD cards. When I asked for the discount on a reader that reads both (and is less expensive) they refused. BHPhoto would not take the card back because I did not have the manufacturer's packaging. So now, I'm not sure how I will proceed...

Did OWC confirm (via serial number) that your particular card needs the update?
I contacted OWC last month to ask about my two 480GB cards and they said they did not require the update. Then a week or so ago I got an email from B&H that my cards might require the update, so I contacted OWC again just to double check and they once again confirmed mine do not need the update. AFAIK the issue (if it applies to you cards) only pertains to use cases when the card is being used for continuous read/write, such as video recording.
