FWIW. We can confirm a product's VPG 200 or 400 certification here:

Also, I tend to check this website for tested specs and comparisons as part of my buying decision. But also easy to use his listed tests/procedures for

AlphaShooters has some useful tests also.

There are measurable performance differences between the VPG200 and VPG400 cards in the A7IV in their tests. All the CFexpress cards tested are 2.0 cards though I don't think the 2.0 vs. 4.0 really matters. The slowest CFexpress 2.0 Type A VPG200 cards tested there are still faster than the fastest UHS-II V90 SD cards they tested.

A 480GB OWC CFe 4.0 Type A card for $136 is cheaper per gig than any top tier UHS-II V90 SD cards even if a OWC CFe 4.0 Type A card might not be quite as fast as VPG400 cards. The lowest price I paid for a top tier 256GB UHS-II V90 SD card (Kingston React Plus) for a few years ago was $139.99 (excluding tax).

These OWC discount prices are incredible. One of those certain for some... to be sorry later if not purchased now while available particularly compared to high end UHS-II SD cards as you wrote. Big discounts like this sometimes mean clearing inventory for the latest greatest, which might mean OWC Type A, 4.0 VPG400 is on the way. Regardless I am happy with the current deal and expected performance. I've been an OWC customer for years--always had a very good experience with their products. But don't ask me about their SoftRAID SW and fees 🙃

I got my 480GB OWC CFe 4.0 card today. I tested it against my Delkin Devices 160GB Green CFe 2.0 VPG400 card using CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4 in a 10Gbps USB-C reader.

The OWC card is slightly faster writing, though CDM is misleading because it only reads or writes for 5 seconds even though you tell it to use 64GB. It does write 64GB to the card at the start and you can monitor the speed in the performance tab of Task Manager. I saw similar write speeds of around 500MB with both cards across the 64GB file.

There is an article in Peta pixel concerning OWC cards needing to have a firmware update, something about heavy usage.
It can be done yourself if you have their card reader otherwise they need to do it to your card.
The reason seems to be associated with some significant level of usage. Not sure just what that means.
I have one of their cards in the mail so I guess I will have an interest although I don't see myself as stressing the card with what I do.
No doubt there will be more info coming.

I would hope that they are updating cards that they are shipping out right now before shipping them, but I suppose there's no guarantee of that. My card came in a sealed package with no sign of being re-sealed and I don't expect they're packaging and sealing them right before they ship. For sure I won't be buying a $99 reader to update a $136 card.

I will update my old one and new one once it gets here. I have their reader already and it is quite good and very fast. I think they are 79 dollars but hey you only saved 250 dollars on the card itself so guess it's not worth it.

Thank you for the reference. I was not aware til now.

I just received the new Atlas Pro type A 960GB card with the included adapter. I already owned the OWC USB4 Reader so was able to download and install (macOS 15,2) OWC's Innergize app and check the card's firmware which is ELFM95.2

Now I need to find out if this is the latest firmware. * I don't see any type of firmware update needed when I load this card and scan with the Innergize app.

Guy, does the Innergize app auto alert if the card's firmware needs to be updated?

No I think it automatically adjusts to the latest and greatest to be honest. BTW sale still going on folks. Seriously at 146 shipped I paid is far better than the 379 I originally paid and I don't even have a cam that uses them.

My rentals do though so why I bought them. I typically rent the A7RV but maybe next show I will rent the A1II

BTW I did buy their Thunderbolt 5 hub for 189 dollars for my Mac mini Pro so now I have 7 USB 5 ports to work with. One for Display and 5 Externals.

You folks want speed I bought a T5 enclosure from China and My read and writes are OVER 5500. It maybe faster than the Internal.

Yes. That adapter comes included.

FWIW, with the OWC A to B adapter and OWC's USB4 Reader, I am able to use the original Anglebird 1TB 2.0 card properly. I had reported earlier in this thread the original 1TB Anglebird 2.0 card was not compatible with the OWC Reader. However I was using an Exascend OWC A to B adapter which for some reason doesn't jibe with that Angelbird 2.0 card.

Or...the OWC 4.0 Reader price of $99 plus the low, low, low, LOW $139 price for 480GB 4.0 OWC card together is still a steal compared to other like 480GB name-brand, CFe-A cards alone 😎

BTW, from what I just read, if concerned you can also send your card back to OWC and they will update the firmware and send it back to you.

That's the previous 10 Gb/s Reader which cuts CFe 4.0 file transfer speeds about 1/2 . Their latest USB4/4.0 Reader is here:
