Can anyone here calculate what the R5II buffer will be with cRAW, 14bit, 30fps with and without pre-capture? Will it be better than the R5 with cRAW, 12bit, 20fps? I would love to see the numbers if they are out there.

Any thoughts of whether the lens drive will be faster on the R5ii than the R5? My RF superteles focus notably faster on my R3 than my R5. I’m hopeful that the increased voltage on the new batteries of the R5ii will allow for an improvement here.
I don't even know what to believe anymore. DPR is now reporting that the R5 II actually drops down to 12-bit when shooting videos. I guess other sources, including Petapixel, is wrong that the R5 II records 14-bit videos?

Don't basically all cameras drop to 12-bit for video?
If you are shooting Log, it is 10-bit anyway, but it nevertheless encodes the full sensor output.

Is a pointless discussion the bit levels as 12-bit is more than enough to fit 16+ stop of DR, taking in to account that R5 and R5c are on the weak side of DR, what does it really matter is if the R5 II has better video DR than the previous models and ideally closing in to the Cxxx series and of course how fast is the read out.

The new batteries have increased amperage, but practically speaking no increased voltage. The higher voltage numbers you see written on the batteries are basically a rounding error during use.
So I sadly don't think we'll see the extra oomph the R3 and R1 will give to the focus motors on the R5II.
You do Know that triangel down is noisereduction applied?
I have the Canon R5 and i’m not unhappy with the DR but it isn’t class leading. It is good .
About the same shadowrecovery as my Sony A6700

Lifting shadows by more than a stop or two generally results in odd, over-processed looking images, IMO. It's one reason why I still use some subtle daylight fill flash, when possible.
Give me Kodachrome. Expose for the highlights and let the shadows fall where they may!

Looking briefly through the manual, it seems to me that you can assign a button to change the electronic shutter drive speed, where if you are shooting at 12fps, you can assign a button that will change the speed to 30fps while you hold it down. I may be wrong on that, but that's my interpretation. I'm not seeing anything that leads me to believe that the precapture function can be assigned to a button. So you would have to dive into the menu to turn that on and off. Is anyone seeing anything that leads them to believe precapture can be assigned to a custom button? Seems like a pretty big omission to leave that functionality out.

Pre-capture is based on .5 sec @ 30fps. So if you're shooting slower, then your time increases.
You can remove #3 from your list. It only works on Jpegs or HIEF files and designed mainly for well lit human faces. Page 685-686 in the advanced user manual.

I read the manual and the blur detection feature is unfortunately jpeg only. And it is not available if you shoot RAW+jpeg to the same card. You would have to shoot RAW and jpeg to separate cards and review images from the jpeg card. According to the manual the RAW+jpeg option doesn't work because the camera will playback the RAW images.
This is somewhat disappointing. There are also a host of settings that need to be used/active for this feature to work and apparently it's only currently designed to evaluate sharpness of people/faces. Apparently it may have difficulty with side angles (people looking away), facial coverings/obstructions, etc. It sounds more and more like outside of traditional portraiture (where mirrorless AF rarely fails), it may have limited usefulness because it may not evaluate all eligible images, thus potentially making it easier to inadvertently skip otherwise good images because the feature did not evaluate those.

I'm just staying that is what was reported. 14-bit is fake news.
