I'll say and I know it's been this way since 2.0.. but i actually like the new app. It's syncs quickly and it doesn't have the quirky issues with my camera trying to remote control it or download pictures. It just "works" so far. The menus and stuff are also nice adds and I feel like i can get through them a bit faster. I just hope they'll give us more updates. Especially because it seems the AII isn't coming this year.

The app is a huge improvement and its very stable--the old one would disconnect randomly.

I could not load the CAMSET file from a V1 camera. I'm guessing the internal structure of the files are different, this may explain why everyone's menu's got reset with the V2 upgrade.

Yes, for sure. That’s why we couldn’t just save our old settings to a card, and reload.

Installing on the latest mac OS (Sonoma 14.4.1, two very different intel machines tested) gave me some headaches by crashing while preparing the update. After wasting some time, I figured that I can install by simply ignoring the crash. Whatever was crashing apparently wasn't needed, maybe the latest in Sony rootkit tech? /sarcasm

I really can't fathom why they provided a card based update facility in 2.00 only to then not support it for 2.01.

I see a lot of people complaining about this but I don't understand why. Y'all are really wanting to use that shiny new button for the card based updates. Have some patience for the next update, I'm sure they'll utilize it then.

Why didn't they do it now? Common sense gives you the answer if you just take a breath and think a little. They pulled their 2.00 update due to an unforeseen issue, so when they re-release it as 2.01 fixing only the issues that caused them to pull it in the first place, they probably wanted to do so with minimal other changes/risk. When dealing with hotfix updates, risk mitigation is paramount. No engineer working on this wants to brick a customer device. They probably also had to offer the same tethered update so anyone still on 1.xx would be able to update to 2.xx.

I still get random disconnects, both on my A1 and the A7CR on the Creator's Cloud app. The difference for me is that it's enough to launch the new app and it'll instantly reconnect, on the old app I always had to delete the pairing and recreate it.

As folk have had a wee while with 2.0/2.01 how are these 'improvements'?

- Improves the accuracy of the Eye AF feature
- Improves overall AF performance and stability

Also, I often use custom WB but it never hits the figure I have it set to eg 5500k will show as 5200k when I pull an image up in CRaw. I'm assuming this fix is when I set it to 5500k I get 5500k?
- Improves the stability of the custom white balance

I didn't even realize Sony said:"Improves the accuracy of the Eye AF feature" under "Previous Benefits and Improvements". Presumably the "Previous" means FW 2.0? I haven't updated to 2.01 yet, just 2.0. Haven't noticed any difference but I don't have the expertise to tell the difference anyway.

I’ve just updated mine to fw2.01 from 2.0 , it may have improved accuracy but so far I’m finding acquisition with bird eye priority on Sucks ! I need to have a mess about with the settings , currently trying out different AF tracking sensitivity

Optimism? Detachment from reality?
Sony assumed V2.00 would be a success.
Card based update feature for A1 possibly scheduled for release months in the future.

Unless I've misread something it's listed in 2.01 under previous benefits from 2.0.

I think that was included in even earlier firmware, somewhere around 1.20/1.30 ...

I upgraded to 2.0 when it first came out and everything works well for me. I would have updated, perhaps, to 2.01 if there was anything of value to me AND if update via card was possible, but since it isn’t, the update is not worth my time.

It took an age to update to 2.0.1 but I can’t get the new creators app to connect or even see my A1. Is there a trick? I just get the screen saying download creators app, and a Bluetooth icon, on the camera, and to the pairing step in the app.

Do I have to delete IEM, which used to work fine, for geotagging, etc?

[Answer was, in my case, to shutdown and restart my iPhone. I suspect that the bluetooth connection was still being routed to IEM.]

My first reaction after getting everything reconfigured was "wow, the AF seems a ton snappier and more responsive". As for accuracy, I never really had issues before, it still nails Eye AF with both my wife and dog on the 35GM and 70-200GM.

No change on my end with Custom WB though. I have it set to the same 5500k in camera and it still shows as 5300k in Lightroom.

Morning BIF battery test w/ A1 v. 2.10 + G 200-600 v. 03 and Sony NP-FZ100 battery about 4.5 years old (not sure how long these Sony Z batteries last)

-From 100% battery charge to 0% camera shut down in two hours twenty minutes
-5858 Lossless Comp (L) RAW images taken ( Just to show how hard I was pushing the camera; Springtime = lots of birds coming and going preparing for nesting, nesting and feeding broods). Now to cull 🥺
-AF-C, Drive Mode H, CFexpress cards

Edit: Forgot to add:

All in electronic shutter and Power Save Start Time was set to 30 mins.

How did that battery life compare to the camera on v2.0?
I did a little bit of shooting today with the A1 but not enough to really get a good sense if the battery life is back to 1.32 levels.

Unfortunately I didn't do a v2.0 battery drain test with the G 200-600.

A few things I found helpful today is checking the new Eye AF Icon on the rear screen to confirm I am in the right Eye AF mode before I begin shooting. In this case, Bird Eye AF before I rush and hold the camera up to my eye and then have to take a few seconds to toggle through human/bird/animal AF, or worse forget to check before I begin shooting. Also the Focus Frame feature is helpful to use while chimping through the frames to confirm you are hitting Bird Eye AF( little green box around the eye).

But also, kind of hard to miss this eye!

I never turn the camera off when using it.

However, I just discovered I forgot that I had set the Power Save Start Time to 30 mins during this battery drain test based upon some discussion on this thread. So no sleep for the camera today Ha! I normally set the Power Save Start Time to 1 min. I better change that back to 1 min now before I forget again.
