You can't roll back FW on any Sony camera, which is why I'm always surprised when people dive into the new versions on week 1.
Yeah, I skipped 2.0 and was glad I did. I had a couple of friends install the "fix" firmware with no issues. I haven't had any problems on one body but the older body seems to freeze every once in awhile while shooting bursts.

Update from Sony Customer Relations. I explained that my Wi-Fi/Bluetooth functionality were working before the 2.01 update and this is the response.
It's now clear how they will approach this: "You have no way of proving your WiFi and Bluetooth unit were working before the upgrade".
Surely if you connected your A1 to their phone app there will be a log / record of it having done so (either on your phone or on their databases).

Just received this e-mail from Sony, inviting me to install the latest update on my A1.
The "New advanced features" promise "Fast and reliable content transfer"!😀

I bought a new Sony NP-FZ100 battery. I'll be out to do the BIF v 2.01 battery drain test again soon to see the difference using a brand new vs old battery. This time w/ Power Save Start Time set to my normal 1 min vs 30 mins I used on the last test.
Morning BIF battery test follow up, w/ A1 v. 2.01 + G 200-600 v. 03 this time with BRAND NEW Sony NP-FZ100 battery ( manufactured six months ago)
-From 100% battery charge to 0% camera shut down in two hours twenty three minutes
-8279 Lossless Comp (L) RAW images taken same place, same birds, but a lot more aggressive on the shutter(Springtime = lots of birds coming and going preparing for nesting, nesting and feeding broods). Plenty to keep the shutter busy
-AF-C, Drive Mode H, CFexpress cards.
All shot electronic shutter and Power Save Start Time was set to 1 min.
Amazing results with a well used 2017 Sony NP-FZ100 battery (5858 frames) vs brand new Sony NP-FZ100 battery (8279 frames). Both lasted within a few minutes of each other--very impressive for the 2017 battery IMO

Side story...This morning while out in the wetlands for v2.01 battery test #2 above, I met three photographers one with the A1+GM 600, one with the A1+GM 300 and another with the Z9 + 180-600.
First time I've seen these kits in person. All three invited me to hold and see for myself. I knew the GM 600 was already described as a lightweight super tele, but I was very pleasantly surprised just how light weight and small it is, for what it is--very hand-hold-able IMO. Likewise the GM 300 is a giggle small and so light too. Very impressed. Same with the Nikon Z9, it felt to me very similar to holding my A1+Sony vertical grip and the 180-600 was equally surprisingly lightweight.
I must say, I left the wetlands today with too many, 8279 images, but also some gear envy!

Amazing image and love you battery life info thanks for sharing
alternatively had you used flash for that shot?

just upgraded the A1 to tastes firmware using a pc with no issues it took some time but procedure was flawless then used Mark Galers camset file to reset the entire camera settings. all that's left now is to add my own tweets to the settings for my specific use cases and Im good to go. Played with the A1 a bit after installing camset file and all buttons and dials seem to function great. On a side note I noticed a firmware upgrade for my 2470gmii and upgraded it also...wish there was a upgrade for the 200600gm as well other than the previous one I excited to see if the 200600gm has improved slightly when I out shooting some flying creature tomorrow!

Thank you. It was already too late in the morning with bright sun so truly sun-kissed and then...Lightroom Classic embraced 😎 No flash.

Big fish and thanks for the report! I just bought back an A1 on the B&S board because I regretted selling one of mine. It will be in my hand in a few days. The current owner said he hasn't updated it. I am debating whether I should update it, or wait for a while. my current A1 is at 2.01.

From my experience so far, I don't feel like AF performance overall is enhanced. However, I think I notice a slight bit more sticky bird eye AF in challenging conditions like strongly backlit BIF or birds deep in the shadows of tall grasses and these small bushy wetland trees where we always seem to have many different bird species nesting and brooding this time of year.
Also, I think ( not certain) I'm experiencing less battery drain with the GM 20-70II compared to the G 200-600 using both in High speed AF-C. There might be something to the new stabilization coordination feature on the G 200-600 but I need more careful comparison between the too. For now, just some thoughts.

Yes! I felt my throat sore during the entire episode. The fish looked far too large--but in the end...it was the end for the fish.

BT and Wifi okay on your current A1 after v2.01?
I don't know. my current A1 is relatively new, not sure if it has the "correct" part in it. I have never tried the wifi features in my cameras. Maybe it's time to find out!

Just in case, and when you do try. I think it could be important to delete your old Imaging Edge App from the phone prior to install and setting up the new Creators' App and account.
Also, If you already paired your A1 to the iPhone/Mobile previously w/ Imaging Edge and encounter BT connect issues when pairing again via Creators' App, try unpairing your camera from the iPhone via "Forget this Device" and then repairing anew via Creators' App.

Yikes!! Out of curiosity, what did you pay for that used A1? And is it still under warranty?

Excuse me, but why don't people who feel undecided about upgrading and are afraid of having problems with service go directly to the service center to upgrade their machine?
It is pointed out that upon delivery the operation of the wifi/bt module is found to be fully functional and, better yet a video is made to demonstrate.
If something goes wrong, the service center is obliged to intervene under warranty, even if the camera is no longer.
